Senior React Native Developer to build a crochet & knitting app from scratch

We’re building a brand-new companion app for people who crochet and knit. We have the complete Figma designs and backend APIs ready to go. We need a senior React Native developer to take this project from an empty repo to a live app on both iOS and Android. What the app does: It’s a heavy utility app for crafters. Key features include: • Pattern Reader: Users import patterns via PDF, photos, or URLs. (Our backend AI parses the data). • Project Tracking: Linked row counters, timers, and step-by-step reading guides. • Inventory (Stash): A place to track yarn and tools, including a barcode scanner for yarn labels. • 15 Mini-Tools: Yarn calculators, unit converters, needle charts, etc. • Monetization: Free tier and a Pro tier with paywalls. • Languages: English and Japanese. The Stack: • React Native (TypeScript) - Expo or bare workflow, we'll let you decide based on the requirements. • Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Functions). • Adapty (or RevenueCat) for subscriptions. The technical challenges you'll need to solve: 1. Persistent Video Player: Users need to watch YouTube tutorials inside the app. The video needs to shrink into a floating mini-player and keep playing when they navigate to other screens or tabs. 2. Offline-first Data: Timers and row counters must work flawlessly offline and sync to Firestore when the connection comes back. 3. Hardware/Native: Smooth barcode scanning (camera) and local file handling for PDFs and images. What we expect from you: • You write clean, strictly typed code and structure things sensibly. • You test your work on physical iPhones and Android phones, not just simulators. • You speak up. If a design doesn't make sense technically, tell us. • Small, focused Git commits and daily communication.
