UI/UX Designer for Fitness Training Mobile App (React Native / Expo)

ABOUT THE PROJECT We're building ROXBASE, a mobile training app for HYROX athletes (a fast-growing functional fitness race format). The app generates personalized weekly training plans with adaptive progression, gap analysis from real race results, and workout tracking. We have a fully functional app built in React Native / Expo. All flows work, the backend is complete, and we're preparing for App Store launch. What we need is a UI/UX designer to elevate the visual design and user experience to match the quality of the product underneath. Website for branding reference: https://www.roxbase.app/ WHAT WE NEED A UI/UX redesign of our existing mobile app screens. The core user flows and data are locked — we're not changing what screens exist or what data they collect. We need someone to improve: - Visual design: typography, color system, spacing, component styling aligned with our existing brand - Information hierarchy: making sure the right things are prominent on each screen (e.g., workout cards that communicate at a glance, gap analysis that draws the eye to what matters) - Interaction design: touch targets, button states, transitions, loading patterns, empty states - Consistency: building a reusable component system so every screen feels like it belongs to the same app Scope: approx. 35 screens across onboarding (~14 screens), core training experience (weekly view, workout detail, workout execution), and secondary screens (settings, saved workouts, empty/error states). We'll share the full screen inventory and detailed specs with shortlisted candidates. DELIVERABLES - Figma design files with a component library / design system - Dev handoff specs — spacing values, color tokens, typography scale, exported assets, component-level annotations - Designs must be implementable in React Native (no web-only patterns, respect mobile platform conventions) ABOUT YOU - Experience designing fitness, health, or sports apps (share examples — this is important) - Strong portfolio of shipped mobile apps (not just concept work) - Comfortable working fast with an existing functional product (this is a redesign, not a blank canvas) - Familiar with React Native constraints (or mobile development handoff in general) - Responsive communication — we move fast and need quick iteration cycles
