We are Hermann Consult & Co. GmbH, a growing German software company building **bee-hub.ai**: an AI agent platform that automates ERP and other back-office work for German mid-sized companies. Currently that platform is deployed at customer environments only, not in the Cloud, though this might change in the future. Our agents run real production workloads today: incoming invoices, sales orders, export declarations, document management - against systems like SAP Business One and Microsoft Dynamics NAV/BC and more. Demand is growing faster than our capacity, so we are adding one engineer who works only on bee-hub.ai, long-term. We work async-first via Slack, CRM and GitHub, move fast, and expect each other to be self-directed. role: We are looking for an engineer who understands what we are building and why, who understands what the customer needs behind a request, and who can take a customer requirement and turn it into working software, together with the CTO, our lead developer, and AI coding agents. Design, direction, scope, plan, etc. can be done together, but can also be expected to be drafted by you. You will help shape *what* gets built and *how*, not just implement what someone else specified. So this is not a role for someone just looking to work on tickets, but also not a dev lead role currently. We need you to understand the goal and proactively maybe create tickets, ask for what the customer needs, etc. That means: - You understand the bigger picture: a platform that many customers run, not a series of one-off projects. You think about seams, reuse, and what will hurt in six months. - You can take an unclear customer need, ask the right questions, propose a design, and build it end to end. Backend, frontend, integration, deployment. Of course this can be done in tandem with us. - You design and build agent workflows: LLM orchestration, browser automation, review UIs where a human approves before anything is written to an ERP. - You integrate business systems: ERP APIs (SAP Business One Service Layer, Dynamics NAV), DMS, mail, portals. - You work across our stack: TypeScript/Next.js, Python/FastAPI, n8n, Docker Compose on-prem, Playwright, PostgreSQL. Though this is of course only the current state and I understand in the age of AI, writing the lines of Code is probably not done by you, mostly. --- How we work with AI and what we expect from you: We develop, plan, review, refactor, code with AI, but not exclusively of course. Coding agents (Claude Code and similar) are part of every task. We do not need you to have used every technology in our stack: if you have manual Software Dev experience and are already somewhat used to AI, you should be able to be comfortable in any language or framework fast enough. What we do need is that you can show, or at least explain in detail, what you have built *with* AI and what you built *without* it, and how you make sure AI-generated code is correct before it ships. We are honest about where we stand: each of us is good at using AI as an individual. Using it well as a team for shared context, shared conventions, review of agent output, dividing work between people and agents, is something we are still figuring out. If you bring practices, tools, or any other lessons with you, that is a plus. After the initial period, if the collaboration works, we provide a Claude or ChatGPT subscription... whichever you prefer and need for the work. --- What we look for - Several years of professional software development. Platform or multi-tenant product experience is a strong plus. - Real system design ability: you can explain a complex system you designed, the constraints, the decisions, and what you would do differently today. - Daily, demonstrable AI-assisted development. You can describe your workflow concretely. - Solid experience in common frameworks and programming languages. Examples: Python, Typescript, Go, Rust, Docker, Kubernetes... What have you used before? - Fluent written English. The team is distributed (Germany, Thailand, Korea) and works async in English. German is a plus (our customers are German), not a requirement. How we work Async-first, short daily written updates, one to two weekly video sync, direct communication. Small team. We start with a small paid trial period (fixed hour range, paid regardless of outcome), then ramp up quickly, since we need help yesterday ;). Start within the next 14 days max. Rate within the posted range depends on demonstrated seniority; we pay for output, not hours. Links to code, write-ups, or demos are preferred. If your work is private, describe it, specifically. The interview will be very important for us, too. So regarding the screening questions: No need for them to be long essays, we can discuss details in the interview. Just be honest about your answers. --- ## Quick Engagement Details | **Start** | ASAP | | **Hours** | ~20 hours min, up to 30 or even 40h | | **Rate** | See post, if you do a good job, you grow with us | | **Time zone** | Flexible; we're in CEST/KST/BKK, our clients are in Germany and probably also in South Korea soon, European or Asian hours work best, but it does not really matter... |
