Developer / Technical Lead for AI-powered Accounting Platform

We are a UAE accounting and tax outsourcing company building an internal operating platform — Aurora OS. We already have several automation tools and prototypes and are looking for a strong developer / technical lead who can review what has already been built, improve it where necessary and gradually combine everything into one scalable system. What already exists * Timesheet and project profitability analysis * Operational/client register * Document upload chatbot * Email processing automation — in development * Bank statement → accounting entries automation * Source documents → accounting entries automation What we want to build * Automated accounting review and error detection * Internal employee portal * Client portal * Document and email processing * AI-assisted accounting workflows * Integration of existing tools into one system * Reporting and dashboards * Role-based user access * Secure document storage * Scalable server/cloud infrastructure The system will process confidential accounting, tax and client data, so data security is critical. Who we are looking for Ideally one strong hands-on specialist who can work both as a developer and technical architect. Required: * Strong full-stack development experience * Python * APIs and integrations * Databases / SQL * Backend architecture * Experience building web applications * Authentication and role-based access * Cloud/server infrastructure * Git / proper version control * AI / LLM API integrations * Document processing / OCR experience * Ability to review and improve existing code rather than rebuild everything unnecessarily * Good understanding of data security Very important: * pragmatic and commercially minded * able to build simple solutions rather than over-engineer * comfortable working with an existing business and real operational processes * able to explain technical decisions to non-technical management * focused on reliability and accuracy * good UX/product thinking is a strong advantage Accounting knowledge is not required, as we will provide all accounting and tax logic. First task Before starting major development, we would like the specialist to: 1. Review our existing systems and code. 2. Identify what can be retained and what needs to be rebuilt. 3. Propose the architecture for Aurora OS. 4. Recommend infrastructure and security setup. 5. Break development into practical stages. 6. Estimate cost and timeline for each stage. We prefer to develop the platform step by step over several months, rather than make a large investment upfront. We are looking for someone interested in potentially working with us long-term if the initial cooperation works well.
