Fractional CTO / Technical Lead for Early-Stage Startup (MVP to Beta)

I’m the founder of an early-stage startup building a web and mobile platform, currently approaching beta. We have an active developer working through structured milestones, and I’m looking for a senior technical advisor who can step in to provide oversight and guidance as we move toward launch, with the goal of evolving into a long-term technical lead or CTO. This is not a hands-on development role to start, but I am looking for someone who is capable of stepping in when needed to help troubleshoot or resolve issues. I would like to spend some time upfront getting you familiar with the product, vision, and current build so you have the right context to provide meaningful input. I’m specifically looking for someone who has experience working with startups through MVP, launch, and early beta. Someone who knows how to bring a product to a high-quality, launch-ready state, with strong attention to detail across both functionality and user experience. Design fidelity and execution quality are extremely important. What I need: Review milestone deliverables before approval Join Zoom walkthroughs with the developer and myself Provide high-level architecture and product feedback Identify risks, shortcuts, or scalability issues Ensure the product is being built with a high standard of quality and alignment to design For the next few weeks leading up to launch, this will likely involve a few Zoom calls per week, with flexibility for more touchpoints as needed. We are targeting launch in the next 2–3 weeks, so having someone engaged and responsive during this window is important. This role is intended to continue beyond launch. I am looking to build a long-term relationship with someone who can take ownership of the technical direction over time and grow into a CTO-level role as the company scales. From time to time, I may also want someone who is comfortable joining investor or stakeholder conversations to clearly explain the technical approach, architecture, and overall build strategy. Engagement will be hourly and flexible to start, with the intention of transitioning into a more consistent and long-term leadership role for the right person. Looking for someone experienced, detail-oriented, and comfortable giving direct feedback. NDA will be required before access to materials and systems.
