We are building Ventra, a browser-based educational SaaS platform for high school business and entrepreneurship programs. It is sold to schools on a per-seat subscription. Teachers assign structured lessons, students complete them asynchronously, and a gamified XP and classroom-credit system drives engagement through leaderboards, streaks and rewards.
We are hiring in phases and paying per accepted milestone. This post is for Phase 0 (paid technical discovery, 1 to 2 weeks) followed by Phase 1 (the MVP build). Phases 2 and 3 are already specified and will go to whoever delivers Phase 1 well. We want a long-term partner, but we are not committing the whole roadmap to someone we have not worked with.
Phase 1 scope in brief:
Two sign-in flows (teacher, student via class code) with Google Sign-In
Strict multi-tenancy: schools must be fully isolated from each other at the data layer
Server-enforced role-based access (student, instructor, school admin, internal admin)
School licence model: seat quota, expiry date, billing status, and access enforcement when a quota or licence lapses
Lesson delivery: structured content blocks, video embeds, inline checkpoint questions, autosave and resume
Instructor publish / schedule / unpublish controls per class
XP ledger, student levels, class leaderboard, student profile
Teacher control panel: roster, progress tracking, answer keys, manual XP and credit adjustment with audit logging
Staging and production environments, CI, backups, monitoring
Later phases (not quoted now): teacher lesson builder, credits and rewards economy, streaks engine, badges, a moderated social activity feed, real-time classroom chat, and subscription lifecycle management.
Target environment: Chrome on Chromebooks and laptops. Not a native mobile app. It must work on school networks and meet WCAG 2.1 AA.
How we work:
All code lives in our GitHub organisation from the first commit
All hosting and third-party accounts are owned by us
IP assigned on payment of each milestone
Weekly written updates and a weekly call
Milestones sized so no unpaid milestone runs longer than two to three weeks
A full 15-page specification is attached. Please read it before applying. It contains the acceptance criteria we will hold delivery against.
