**Mid-Senior Software Engineer (Remote – Europe/US)** Jovtara | Full-time | Remote | CET working hours **About Jovtara** Jovtara is a software company based in Los Angeles, California, led by senior software engineer and CEO Warren Martin Agbuya. We build software products for the market and are expanding our engineering team across Europe and the United States. We're a small, hands-on team where engineers have real ownership, direct access to leadership, and a visible impact on what we ship. **About the role** We're hiring a Mid-Senior Software Engineer who can take a feature from concept to production with minimal hand-holding. You'll work across the stack in JavaScript, Java, and Python, collaborate directly with the CEO on technical direction, and help shape our engineering practices as the team grows. This is a remote role, but we work together in real time on Central European Time, so overlap with those hours is essential. **What you'll do** - Design, develop, test, and deploy new features and services - Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code in JavaScript, Java, and Python - Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making - Review code, give and receive constructive feedback, and mentor more junior engineers - Debug and resolve production issues, and improve performance and reliability - Work with APIs, databases, and third-party integrations - Communicate progress, blockers, and ideas clearly in daily collaboration with the team - Help define and improve development processes, tooling, and best practices **Required qualifications** - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a closely related technical field) - 3–7 years of professional software development experience - Strong, hands-on proficiency in **JavaScript, Java, and Python** — you should be comfortable shipping production code in all three - Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OOP, design patterns, and testing - Experience with Git and modern development workflows (branching, pull requests, code review) - **English proficiency above C1 (C2 or native-level)** — you'll be communicating with an international team and leadership daily, in writing and on calls - **Located in Europe or the United States** and able to work **Central European Time (CET)** business hours - **Your own laptop** and a stable, reliable internet connection suitable for remote work and video calls **Nice to have** - Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, Node.js) - Experience with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks - Experience with Django, Flask, or FastAPI - Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines - Experience with relational and NoSQL databases - Previous experience working in a remote, distributed team **What we offer** - Fully remote work with a flexible setup within CET hours - Direct collaboration with the CEO and senior engineers - Real ownership of projects and a say in technical decisions - A growing team where your contributions are visible and valued - Opportunity to grow into a lead role as the company scales **How to apply** We want to hear from you directly, not just read a résumé.
