Python / AI Dev & for Climate-Tech(CBAM)

InteliCarbon is an early-stage climate-tech startup building a compliance and carbon-intelligence platform for the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). CBAM requires EU importers of steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity to measure, report and pay for the carbon embedded in their imports. Most companies have no reliable way to do this, and that’s the problem we solve. We have a working MVP in pilot. Our core engine already processes supplier data, calculates Specific Embedded Emissions (SEE) using the EU methodology, applies validation and variance checks, and calculates carbon exposure. Now we need help turning that core into a complete, production-ready product. We’re looking for someone who is technically capable and genuinely curious about carbon regulation. You don’t need years of experience. If you’re a student, recent graduate or early-career developer who wants to learn fast on a real product, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll work directly with the founder and see your work go into production. What you’ll work on: Building and improving AI agent pipelines (LangGraph-based) for document extraction and carbon data processing Developing backend services in Python/FastAPI Helping implement CBAM-specific features such as declaration data structures, XML report generation and validation rules Connecting frontend screens to real backend calculations Researching CBAM regulations and translating them into product requirements Required skills: Solid Python skills Experience with, or strong interest in, LLMs and AI agents (LangChain, LangGraph or similar) Basic understanding of REST APIs and databases (PostgreSQL) Ability to read regulatory documentation and turn it into logic Nice to have: Knowledge of CBAM, EU ETS, carbon accounting or GHG Protocol FastAPI, Docker or vector databases (Qdrant) Background in environmental science, chemical engineering, industrial engineering or sustainability Experience with XML schemas or data validation What you get: Hands-on experience building a real AI product in a fast-growing regulatory market Direct mentorship from the founding team Flexible, remote working Potential for a long-term role as the company grows To apply, please answer: Describe a Python or AI project you’ve built In your own words, What is CBAM and why does it matter to importers?
