Senior Shopify + Full-Stack Developer

We are looking for an experienced Shopify / full-stack developer with strong UX and frontend skills to help build the next phase of an existing digital product. This is not a basic Shopify setup, theme-installation, or ticket-by-ticket maintenance role. We already have an existing Shopify build, established product direction, design requirements, and detailed specifications. We need someone who can take ownership of both the customer-facing experience and the supporting technical architecture. The initial scope will involve a combination of: - Custom Shopify development - Conversion-focused landing and product experiences - Interactive user flows - Customer data capture and persistence - Custom frontend development - Backend/API integration where appropriate - Email/SMS automation - Analytics and event tracking - Responsive/mobile optimization - QA and production deployment We are specifically looking for someone who can take meaningful ownership of a production build from technical planning through implementation, QA, and launch. This is not a role for a developer who prefers to work only from isolated tickets or wait for detailed implementation instructions for every task. We value someone who can understand the product requirements, identify technical risks, make sound implementation decisions, and move the build forward independently. Some parts of the product will need to support more advanced functionality in future phases, so we are looking for someone who can make good architectural decisions now without overengineering the initial release. We are open to the exact technical approach and expect the selected developer to contribute to those decisions. ## Communication & Availability You must be able to communicate reliably during U.S. business hours. You do not need to be located in the United States, but there should be enough working-hour overlap for: - Timely communication - Technical discussions - Reviewing issues and decisions - Coordinating testing and releases - Resolving production blockers when necessary Strong written communication and dependable responsiveness are important for this engagement. ## Who We’re Looking For Strong candidates will have experience with several of the following: - Advanced Shopify development - Liquid and custom theme development - JavaScript / TypeScript - React or similar frontend frameworks - Node.js or comparable backend development - Structured customer/user data - Interactive quizzes, assessments, forms, or multi-step experiences - SaaS or membership products - Conversion funnels - Digital products - Customer accounts or profiles - Email/SMS automation - Analytics and event tracking - Responsive UX/UI implementation We care more about relevant product experience, ownership, and technical judgment than a specific technology stack. You should be comfortable working beyond the limitations of standard Shopify apps when custom development is the better long-term solution. ## Not a Good Fit If This is probably not a good fit if your experience is primarily limited to: - Installing Shopify themes - Basic store configuration - Page-builder work - Simple app installation/configuration - Working only from narrowly defined development tickets - Production work where architecture, implementation decisions, and launch ownership were handled by someone else We are looking for someone who can personally take responsibility for a meaningful production build. ## When Applying Please include: 1. This is the first phase of a larger roadmap, with potential for substantial ongoing work if the initial engagement goes well.
