Empires Dawn Win11 Compatibility Fix

I own the GOG release of Empires: Dawn of the Modern World and want to enjoy it on my Surface Laptop 13.8″ running Windows 11 Pro on a Snapdragon X2 Elite @ 4.03 GHz. Right now the game installs, reaches the main menu, then freezes completely—occasionally it just sits on a black screen...
