I’m building an internal app to automatically log my technicians’ workdays.
An OBD-II Bluetooth adapter in each truck tells the app when the ignition turns on and off. The app captures GPS and time on those events, asks the tech a few quick questions at each stop, and builds a daily log I can review in a simple web dashboard. The goal is that the tech barely has to touch it.
Scope:
• React Native app, iOS + Android (Expo preferred)
• Bluetooth LE connection to an ELM327 OBD-II adapter; ignition detection via engine RPM
• GPS capture on ignition events
• Background execution so logging continues with the screen off
• Offline-first — queue locally in dead zones, sync on reconnect
• Supabase (Postgres) backend
• Prompt flow at stops (tap/text answers; voice comes later)
• Simple React web dashboard: pick a tech, pick a week, see each day
I already have a written spec, data model, and staged build plan — I’ll share them with serious candidates. You won’t be guessing at requirements.
How we’ll work: staged, tested on a real truck between stages. Hourly, roughly 15–25 hrs/week for about 3 months, likely ongoing after.
I’m US Eastern and will be testing daily on my own truck, so I need real overlap with my hours. Latin America and Eastern Europe fit well. If you’re further out, tell me how you’d handle it.
