Job Title: Expert Odoo Developers Location: Remote Job Type: Full-time  About Us & The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Odoo Developer with a strong consulting mindset to join our team for a long-term strategic partnership. We are supporting a client in Germany to manage, optimize, and scale approximately thirty Odoo ERP projects alongside complex web shop integrations. Due to previous suboptimal experiences with external agencies, our client requires engineers who are not just coders, but true technical consultants. Your primary focus will be evaluating business requirements and strictly prioritizing Odoo native functionalities over unnecessary custom development. You will play a critical role in managing complex inventory systems, implementing German accounting localization, and executing strategic platform migrations from Plenty Markets to WooCommerce while ensuring seamless integration with the central Odoo system. Key Responsibilities Technical Consulting and System Architecture: Conduct thorough gap-fit analysis sessions to translate complex German business requirements directly into standard Odoo configurations. Act as the primary technical gatekeeper, vigorously defending the native Odoo architecture and declining custom development requests that duplicate existing functionalities. Audit the existing portfolio of thirty Odoo projects to identify legacy custom modules, execute code refactoring, and seamlessly transition non-standard workflows back to native processes. Produce comprehensive technical specifications, business mapping documentation, and architectural blueprints before writing any custom code or altering existing workflows. ERP Configuration and Localization: Design and deploy complex supply chain workflows within the Odoo Inventory module, including multi-warehouse routing, cross-docking, automated replenishment rules, and barcode scanning operations. Configure German accounting localization packages seamlessly, ensuring strict compliance with local financial regulations, proper tax mappings, and accurate chart of accounts implementations. Develop custom Odoo modules using Python and XML only when critical business gaps exist, ensuring all code strictly adheres to core Odoo architectural, security, and performance standards. E-commerce Integration and Data Migration: Architect and execute the complete platform migration from Plenty Markets to WooCommerce, ensuring zero data loss across historical orders, customer records, and complex product catalogs. Build, secure, and maintain highly fault-tolerant bidirectional API connectors between WooCommerce storefronts and Odoo to synchronize real-time inventory levels, dynamic pricing, and fulfillment statuses. Implement robust error handling, rate limiting, and data queuing mechanisms to guarantee uninterrupted data synchronization between Odoo and external e-commerce ecosystems. Requirements & Qualifications Core Technical Competencies: A minimum of five to seven years of hands-on professional experience as a Senior Odoo Developer and Technical Consultant managing multi-company or multi-database environments. Exceptional proficiency in Python, XML, and PostgreSQL, backed by a deep understanding of the Odoo Object-Relational Mapping framework and complex backend system architectures. Extensive practical experience building custom RESTful APIs, utilizing webhooks, and designing middleware solutions to integrate Odoo securely with WooCommerce. Solid understanding of advanced database management, data mapping logic, and executing large-scale structural data migrations from legacy systems without downtime. Advanced proficiency with distributed version control systems, specifically Git, encompassing complex branching strategies, merge conflict resolution, and managing multi-environment deployment pipelines. Consulting and Domain Expertise: Proven track record of successfully implementing the Odoo Inventory and Accounting modules at an enterprise scale, with deep domain knowledge of supply chain logistics and double-entry bookkeeping. Demonstrated ability to perform gap-fit analysis and a strong consultative mindset focused on maximizing out-of-the-box software capabilities to minimize technical debt. Ability to manage client expectations effectively, presenting technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders to guide them toward standard Odoo workflows. Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities, paired with the ability to troubleshoot complex system-level integrations and resolve critical data synchronization discrepancies independently. Exceptional English communication skills tailored for direct client consulting, leading technical workshops, and drafting high-level architectural documentation. Nice to Have Prior exposure to specific German financial compliance tools like DATEV and hands-on experience exporting financial data from Odoo to local German accounting systems. Direct experience working with the Plenty Markets platform API and a solid understanding of its underlying data structure to expedite the migration process. Familiarity with modern cloud deployment strategies, Docker containerization, and managing Odoo hosting environments.
