# Full-Stack Developer — Healthcare SaaS Platform (Demo + Customer Platform) ## About the Project Switchbox Health is a practice management platform for small and mid-sized ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and MSOs. It helps facilities manage costs, improve operational efficiency, and forecast trends. A working v0.1 prototype exists (Next.js/TypeScript). We're now building two tracks: a polished **demo environment** for prospects and the **production customer platform**. You'd be joining as a co-developer, not a ticket-taker. The founder is technical-adjacent and actively builds with AI tools — you'll set up and maintain a workflow where we build together. ## What You'll Do - Pick up the existing Next.js/TypeScript codebase and take it from prototype to production - Set up a co-development environment: GitHub (repo hygiene, branching, CI/CD), Replit or similar cloud dev environment, and AI-assisted workflows (Claude, Copilot, etc.) so the founder can contribute alongside you - Build out the demo platform for sales conversations and the multi-tenant customer platform for onboarding real facilities - Own architecture decisions: database, auth, hosting, API design - Implement security and compliance from day one: encryption at rest/in transit, role-based access control, audit logging, HIPAA-aligned infrastructure choices - Design and build **ETL/data pipelines using a medallion architecture (bronze → silver → gold)** to ingest, clean, and model customer operational and financial data for analytics and forecasting - Build the platform **AI-native**: LLM-powered features (insights, summarization, natural-language queries), retrieval over customer data, and agentic workflows baked into the product — not bolted on - Establish version control discipline, environments (dev/staging/prod), and documentation so the project isn't dependent on any one person ## Initial Scope — Demo Build-Out The first build milestone (after environment setup and codebase review) is completing the demo application: - **Finish the build-out** of the existing v0.1 prototype — several routes (Contract Management, Data Insights) are currently placeholder stubs - **Expand the mock datasets** (realistic ortho MSK / ortho dental data: claims, claim lines, financials, providers, staff, supplies, vendor connections) so every module renders believable demo data - **Make key operational workflows fully functional** end-to-end against mock data: - **Analytics & Strategies** — extend the existing Revenue Analytics, Data Insights, and Trend Forecasting modules into one cohesive workflow: KPIs → drill-down → actionable strategy recommendations - **Contract Management (payer + vendor)** — payer contracts (fee schedules, rates, renewal tracking) and vendor contracts (pricing, terms, spend visibility) in a single working module ## Must-Haves - Proven full-stack experience with **Next.js/React + TypeScript** and a production backend (Node/Postgres or similar) - **Healthcare software background** — you've built or maintained systems handling PHI or clinical/operational healthcare data and can speak to HIPAA requirements concretely - **Security-first mindset**: you can explain how you'd secure a multi-tenant healthcare app without being asked - Experience setting up collaborative dev environments (GitHub workflows, cloud IDEs like Replit, CI/CD) - **Data engineering experience**: ETL pipelines with medallion/layered architecture (bronze/silver/gold), data modeling, and a warehouse or lakehouse (e.g., Postgres, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks) - **AI application experience**: shipped LLM-integrated features (RAG, structured outputs, agent workflows) using APIs like Anthropic or OpenAI — beyond chatbot wrappers - Comfortable co-developing with a founder who uses AI coding tools — you guide, review, and keep quality high - Willing to sign an NDA and IP assignment agreement; HIPAA training/BAA familiarity required - Strong async communication in English ## Nice-to-Haves - ASC, surgery center, or revenue-cycle domain knowledge - Data visualization experience (charts/dashboards — we use Recharts/D3) - Experience taking an early-stage healthcare product through its first customer onboardings - SOC 2 or HITRUST exposure ## Engagement & Compensation - **Project/milestone-based** through Upwork.
