We're a nonprofit ed-tech platform serving immigrant and refugee learners in the U.S. through a custom LearnDash-based classroom. We have an existing analytics pipeline — GA4 exporting to BigQuery, and a WordPress webhook plugin sending server-side LearnDash events (registrations, enrollments, completions) into BigQuery — that feeds a Looker Studio dashboard.
We're extending it to cover a new use case: students can browse and start lessons before creating an account (progress is tracked via cookies), and we want to understand that anonymous-to-registered journey — engagement before signup, effectiveness of in-product sign-up prompts, and how that funnel breaks down by language and location.
You'll be working with:
An existing GTM container and GA4 property (already live)
An existing BigQuery dataset with a server-side "events" table (our source of truth for actual registrations/enrollments/completions) and existing GA4-blended views
Looker Studio dashboards already in production
Scope:
Audit current GTM/GA4/BQ setup
Design and implement GTM events for the logged-out learner journey (lesson engagement, sign-up nudges shown/clicked, sign-up started/completed) — with validation built in from day one against our server-side event data (we've been burned before by GA4 custom events overcounting; accuracy matters more than event volume)
Deliver a written technical spec (not implementation) for how a non-PII session identifier could be bridged from the anonymous session to the registered account, for our developer to implement separately
Build/refine BigQuery views blending GA4 and LearnDash data for a cohort-level anonymous→registered funnel, segmented by language and location
Update our Looker Studio dashboard with the new funnel and segmentation views
Deliver a short recorded walkthrough of the new events, views, and dashboard for handoff
Out of scope: WordPress/PHP development, GA4/GTM setup from scratch, ongoing maintenance (can discuss a separate retainer after this project if it's a good fit).
Possible follow-on: if this engagement goes well, we have a second, smaller scoped project in mind (bringing another data source into the same pipeline) that we'd likely offer to the same contractor first.
Must have:
Strong hands-on GA4 + GTM configuration experience, including the GA4 BigQuery export schema
Advanced BigQuery SQL
Looker Studio experience blending multiple data sources
A genuinely privacy-conscious approach to analytics — we work with a vulnerable population and this isn't negotiable
Nice to have: WordPress/LearnDash familiarity, nonprofit or EdTech experience.
