Senior Trading Systems Engineer – Pine Script / Python / Automated Futures Trading
Project Overview
I am looking for a senior engineer to take over technical development of an existing automated futures trading system.
This is not a project to build a strategy from scratch.
The system is already live, profitable in historical testing, and has a complete execution pipeline. The remaining work is to improve reliability, eliminate realtime discrepancies, and continue evolving the system into a production-grade automated trading platform.
Current stack:
TradingView Pine Script (~2,200 lines)
Python VPS
SQLite
Massive Futures API
PickMyTrade
Tradovate
Live dashboard
Event logging
Forensic debugging tools
Current Status
The strategy has undergone months of development and debugging.
The backend infrastructure is complete.
The remaining technical challenge is a TradingView/Pine realtime execution discrepancy where certain valid historical trades do not generate realtime ENTRY alerts.
Beyond resolving this issue, I want to continue improving the platform.
This is intended to become a long-term engagement rather than a one-time bug fix.
What You'll Be Working On
Depending on your expertise, responsibilities may include:
Investigating realtime Pine execution behavior
Improving strategy reliability
Building additional diagnostics
Designing better execution safeguards
Improving state-machine architecture
Performance optimization
New strategy research
Statistical analysis
Dashboard improvements
VPS architecture improvements
Risk management improvements
Trade analytics
Automation enhancements
Broker integrations
Infrastructure scaling
If you identify architectural improvements backed by evidence, I am open to implementing them.

What Has Already Been Investigated
Significant engineering work has already been completed.
Previous investigations include:
Webhook delivery
Backend execution
PickMyTrade integration
Tradovate execution
SQLite logging
Dashboard accuracy
Risk validation
Duplicate prevention
Broker verification
Timestamp validation
Live quote verification
Accounting reconciliation
The remaining investigation is primarily focused on TradingView realtime behavior.
Ideal Candidate
I'm looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult engineering problems rather than simply writing indicators.
Strong experience with:
Advanced Pine Script
Python
Event-driven systems
State machines
TradingView internals
Realtime execution
Automated trading
Futures markets
API integrations
Debugging complex production systems
Bonus experience:
Quantitative trading
Statistical modeling
Infrastructure design
Distributed systems
Low-latency execution
Broker APIs
What Success Looks Like
Short term:
Resolve remaining realtime execution discrepancies.
Improve execution reliability.
Strengthen diagnostics and monitoring.
Long term:
Continue improving the strategy.
Expand the automation platform.
Add new analytics.
Increase robustness and scalability.
Develop additional trading capabilities.
How I Like to Work
I value engineers who:
Challenge assumptions with evidence.
Explain why changes are made.
Prefer small, validated improvements over unnecessary rewrites.
Think about long-term maintainability.
Communicate clearly.
If you simply want to rewrite everything, this project probably isn't a good fit.
If you enjoy taking an already advanced trading system and making it even better, I'd like to work with you.
When Applying
Please include:
Similar automated trading projects you've worked on.
Your experience with Pine Script (especially large projects).
Experience debugging historical vs. realtime TradingView behavior.
Experience with Python backends or broker APIs.
How you would approach improving an existing production trading system.
