We're seeking a specialist 3DS Max Modeller with a unique hybrid skill set: game development real-time environment expertise combined with civil engineering or infrastructure background.
You'll be responsible for creating large-scale, architecturally accurate urban environments for real-time Unreal Engine pipelines. This is NOT a generic architectural visualisation role—it's a production role that demands both technical game-dev optimisation AND deep understanding of infrastructure, urban planning, and civil engineering principles.
What You'll Do
Model detailed, large-scale urban environments (buildings, streets, infrastructure, landscapes, modular asset systems)
Deliver clean, optimised 3DS Max assets optimised for Unreal Engine real-time workflows
Ensure architectural accuracy, realistic proportions, and infrastructure coherence
Understand and implement city layout, traffic flow, infrastructure systems, and urban planning principles
Meet strict performance budgets while maintaining visual quality and realism
Collaborate with lighting, animation, and Unreal teams to deliver cinematic, production-ready environments
Work independently within production deadlines
Essential Qualifications
5+ years 3DS Max experience, specialising in urban/architectural/environmental modelling
Game development background: proven experience building large-scale city environments for real-time engines (Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar)
Civil engineering or infrastructure visualisation background: strong understanding of urban planning, infrastructure systems, construction principles, and architectural accuracy
Expert-level understanding of Unreal Engine optimisation (LOD systems, draw calls, asset preparation)
Strong topology, UV workflow, and texel density knowledge
Portfolio demonstrating large-scale city environments (game projects, visualisation, or infrastructure renders)
Ability to work efficiently as an independent contractor on production timelines
Desirable Skills
Unreal Engine C++ or Blueprints experience
V-Ray or equivalent rendering for look development
Python scripting for 3DS Max workflow automation
Crowd simulation tools (e.g., Anima, Golaem)
Infrastructure/BIM/CAD background (Revit, AutoCAD)
Real-time GIS data integration
Performance optimisation across large scenes or asset libraries
