Custom Product Configurator Module

Project Overview We are looking for an experienced *Magento 2 developer* to build a custom module for our furniture website. This is a *backend-focused development project* that requires strong knowledge of Magento 2 architecture, PHP 8, MySQL, JavaScript, and Magento best practices. The module will replace Magento's standard configurable product experience with a custom guided configurator. *No third-party configurator extensions may be used.* *No Magento core modifications.* The solution must be fully upgrade-safe and follow Magento coding standards. --- ## Environment * Magento Open Source 2.4.x * PHP 8.x * MySQL * Linux server (SSH access) * Composer * Git --- ## Project Goal Customers will configure a furniture product through a guided interface. Configuration flow: 1. Upholstery Material 2. Upholstery Colour 3. Wood Veneer 4. Base Finish After completing the configuration: * A manufacturing SKU is generated. * One configured product is added to the Magento cart. * Magento continues to handle checkout, orders, customers, catalog, and inventory. We are *not* creating thousands of simple products. Each furniture model will remain a single Magento product. --- ### Admin Functionality Develop complete Magento Admin management pages for: * Upholstery Materials * Upholstery Colours * Wood Veneers * Base Finishes Each section should include: * Grid * Add/Edit form * Delete * Enable/Disable * Sort Order * Image upload * Manufacturing code * Price adjustment * Lead time (where applicable) The admin interface should feel like a standard Magento module. --- ### Frontend Configurator Build a guided configurator that: * Works on the product page * Uses AJAX (no page reloads) * Shows options as image cards/swatches * Unlocks each step only after the previous selection * Updates a sticky summary panel in real time * Displays: * Material * Colour * Wood * Base * Price * Lead Time Only after all required selections are complete should the "Add to Cart" button become available. --- ### Manufacturing SKU Develop a service that generates a manufacturing SKU based on the selected options. The SKU format will be provided during development. The SKU generation logic must be isolated and easily testable. --- ### Cart Integration Store the selected configuration with the Magento quote item and order item.
