Project Description
I am looking for an experienced Rasp Pi and Embedded Systems developer to build the first working prototype of an in-car AI translation device.
The goal is to allow passengers and drivers who speak different languages to communicate naturally in real time.
System Overview
Passenger Side:
* 5–7 inch touchscreen mounted behind the front seat
* Language selection
* Speak button
* Translation display
* Passenger microphone
* Passenger speaker
Driver Side:
* Bluetooth AirPods or Bluetooth earbud (preferred)
* Optional small speaker
* Driver selects native language once using a simple control button
Processing Unit:
* Raspberry Pi 5 (8GB)
Internet:
* Dedicated in-car Wi-Fi hotspot (T-Mobile or similar)
Translation:
* Cloud-based translation using Google, OpenAI, DeepL, or similar services
Communication Flow
Passenger speaks
→ Speech recognition
→ Translation
→ Driver hears translated speech in AirPods
Driver responds
→ Speech recognition
→ Translation
→ Passenger hears translated speech through speaker and sees translated text on screen
Current Goal
This is NOT a mass-production project yet.
The objective is to build a working prototype that can be installed and tested in a real Uber vehicle.
