AI-Powered WhatsApp Automation System – Hourly Developer

We are looking for an experienced *AI Automation / Full-Stack Developer* to build and continuously improve an AI-powered system that integrates with *WhatsApp, Google Sheets, and Google Drive*. This will be an *hourly contract*, with the possibility of ongoing work as we expand the system and add additional features. The main goal is to create a system where users communicate with an AI assistant through WhatsApp. The AI should understand user messages, respond appropriately, collect and organize user information, store relevant queries and data in Google Sheets, and automatically save documents/files received from users into Google Drive. How the System Should Work User → WhatsApp → AI System → Google Sheets / Google Drive Example workflow: 1. A user sends a message through WhatsApp. 2. The WhatsApp message is received by our backend. 3. The AI processes and understands the user's query. 4. The AI responds to the user through WhatsApp. 5. Relevant user information and queries are automatically stored in Google Sheets. 6. If the user sends a document/file, the system downloads and uploads it to Google Drive. 7. The Google Drive file/link is associated with the correct user and recorded in Google Sheets. 8. The system maintains conversation context so the AI can provide consistent responses. Main Responsibilities WhatsApp Integration Integrate with the WhatsApp Business API. Receive and send WhatsApp messages. Handle text messages and document/file attachments. Identify users and maintain conversation context. Implement reliable webhook handling. AI Integration Integrate an LLM such as OpenAI or another suitable AI provider. Process and understand natural-language queries. Generate relevant responses. Maintain conversation context. Extract structured information from conversations. Send structured information to Google Sheets. Google Sheets Integration Automatically store relevant information such as: User name WhatsApp number/user ID Date and time User queries Relevant conversation information Information collected from the user Conversation/status information Google Drive document links The Sheets structure should be configurable and easy to modify. Google Drive Integration When users send documents/files through WhatsApp: Detect the attachment. Retrieve the file securely. Upload it to Google Drive. Organize files into appropriate folders. Associate files with the correct user. Save the Google Drive file ID/link in Google Sheets. Technical Requirements Strong experience with the following is preferred: WhatsApp Business API AI/LLM API integration OpenAI API Google Sheets API Google Drive API REST APIs Webhooks Python or Node.js/TypeScript Backend development OAuth 2.0 Database design API security Error handling and logging You are welcome to recommend the best architecture and technology stack based on your experience. Development Approach Because this is an *hourly contract*, we expect the developer to work with us incrementally. Initial work may include: Reviewing the requirements. Designing the system architecture. Setting up the WhatsApp integration. Connecting the AI model. Implementing Google Sheets integration. Implementing Google Drive integration. Building the document-handling workflow. Testing the complete flow. Fixing bugs and improving reliability. After the initial implementation, there may be *ongoing hourly work* for additional AI features, integrations, improvements, and maintenance. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who: Has previous experience building AI-powered automation systems. Understands WhatsApp APIs and webhooks. Has experience with Google APIs. Can design a clean and scalable backend. Can communicate clearly and provide regular progress updates. Can troubleshoot API/integration issues independently. Writes clean, maintainable code. Is interested in a potential long-term working relationship.
