Project Overview
I am the founder of MoveSpeedia, an early-stage moving marketplace. I am looking for an experienced full-stack developer to build a lean, responsive web application MVP that allows customers to create a moving inventory, receive pricing, compare available moving carriers, and book a move online.
This is a fixed-scope validation MVP, not the full long-term product. I am intentionally keeping features lean and am willing to handle some operational processes manually behind the scenes during the MVP stage.
I already have the business concept, customer flow, pricing logic, and prototype/design direction established.
Core MVP Goal
A customer should be able to:
Create inventory → receive pricing → view available carriers → select a carrier → book/pay → receive confirmation
Carriers should have a simple portal to manage the information necessary for them to appear as an available option.
An admin dashboard should allow me to manage the marketplace manually when needed.
CUSTOMER-SIDE FEATURES
1. Customer Move Intake
Pickup location
Destination
Move date
Basic move/contact information
2. Inventory Creation
Customer selects/adds household items and quantities
Inventory produces an estimated cubic-foot total
Ability to make changes before booking
Photo upload capability is preferred if achievable within budget
Advanced AI/computer-vision inventory recognition is NOT required for this MVP
3. Cubic Feet / Weight Conversion
This is important because the initial market is Los Angeles/California.
The system should:
Calculate estimated cubic feet from inventory
Convert cubic feet to an estimated weight using an admin-configurable conversion factor
Preserve the cubic-foot inventory internally while allowing pricing/estimates to comply with applicable weight-based requirements
The conversion formula/value must be editable through the admin dashboard rather than hard-coded.
4. Carrier Comparison
Display eligible carriers with basic information such as:
Carrier/company name
Price
Basic service information
Available pickup window/date
Simple comparison/selection interface
This does NOT need sophisticated automated dispatching or route optimization for the MVP.
5. Booking
Customer selects a carrier and confirms the move.
6. Three-Payment Flow
The MVP needs to support the planned three-stage customer payment structure.
Exact amounts/percentages should be configurable rather than permanently hard-coded.
Stripe is preferred.
The developer should propose the simplest reliable way to implement this within the MVP budget.
CARRIER PORTAL
Carriers need a simple login/dashboard where they can maintain basic information including:
Company/profile information
Service area/routes
Availability
Basic pricing
Capacity/availability information needed for marketplace matching
This should remain intentionally simple for MVP.
I am comfortable manually assisting with carrier onboarding.
ADMIN DASHBOARD — IMPORTANT
I need an admin dashboard that gives me flexibility to operate the MVP without needing a developer every time something changes.
Admin should be able to:
View customers
View bookings
View carriers
Add/edit/deactivate carriers
Edit carrier pricing
Edit pricing assumptions/rules
Edit cubic-foot-to-weight conversion value
Adjust a customer's inventory if necessary
Adjust booking pricing when a legitimate change is required
View payment/booking status
Manage basic marketplace information
For example, if a customer accidentally leaves out a bedroom or inventory needs to be corrected, I need the ability to update the booking rather than having the application become unusable.
ENGLISH + SPANISH
The MVP must support both English and Spanish.
This is important because the initial target market is Los Angeles.
I do NOT need a complicated translation management system.
A simple bilingual implementation is acceptable as long as customers can clearly switch between English and Spanish and the major customer-facing flow is available in both languages.
I can provide/review final Spanish copy if needed.
RESPONSIVE WEB APPLICATION
This is a web application, not a native iOS/Android app.
It must work properly on:
Mobile phones
Tablets
Desktop
Mobile usability is especially important.
DESIGN
I already have prototype/design work that can be provided to the selected developer.
The MVP does not need excessive animation or custom visual effects.
Priority is:
Clean + trustworthy + easy to use + functional
TECH STACK
I am open to recommendations.
React / Next.js or another modern web application framework is acceptable.
I care more about:
Reliability
Maintainability
Clean code
Ability for another developer to work on it later
Keeping infrastructure costs reasonable
Please explain what stack you recommend and why.
DEPLOYMENT / OWNERSHIP
The completed application should be deployed to my domain or an appropriate MoveSpeedia subdomain.
I must receive:
Full source code
Repository ownership/access
Database/admin access
Hosting/deployment access
API/payment account configuration under accounts I control
Basic documentation necessary for another developer to maintain the application
All code and completed work produced for the project must belong to MoveSpeedia upon payment.
WHAT IS NOT REQUIRED
To keep the MVP within budget, I am specifically NOT requesting:
Native mobile apps
Advanced AI/computer vision
Automated room scanning
Complex route optimization
Advanced analytics
Complex carrier dispatch software
Fully automated operations
Large-scale enterprise architecture
Those can come later if the MVP validates the marketplace.
BUDGET & TIMELINE
Fixed project budget: approximately $3,000 USD
Target timeline: approximately 4–8 weeks, although I am open to a developer's realistic recommendation.
I prefer milestone-based payments tied to working deliverables.
WHO I AM LOOKING FOR
Ideal developer has experience with some combination of:
Full-stack web applications
Marketplaces
Booking platforms
Stripe/payment integrations
Customer/admin dashboards
Responsive/mobile-first applications
Multilingual applications
React / Next.js or similar frameworks
Developers worldwide are welcome.
Clear English communication and dependable communication throughout the project are important.
WHEN APPLYING, PLEASE INCLUDE
Please answer the following instead of sending only a generic proposal:
1. Have you built a marketplace, booking platform, or similar web application before? Please provide examples.
2. What technology stack would you use for this project and why?
3. Can you complete the described MVP within approximately $3,000? If not, identify specifically which feature(s) create the issue rather than simply providing a higher total price.
4. What timeline would you estimate?
5. How would you structure the project into milestones?
6. Have you implemented Stripe payments before?
7. Have you built multilingual applications before?
8. Are you personally completing the development, or will the work be outsourced to another developer/team?
I am looking for someone who understands the purpose of an MVP: build the smallest reliable product that lets us put real customers and carriers through the marketplace and validate the business.
