I am looking for an experienced Product Analytics Engineer or Full-Stack Developer to implement a complete analytics system for an existing furniture aggregator website.
The platform allows users to:
- Browse furniture categories and subcategories
- Search for products
- Filter by price, color, material, brand, sale status, and new arrivals
- View product details
- Select product colors, with product images changing based on the selected color
- Browse brands and partner stores
- Click “Go to Store” to visit an external store and complete the purchase
The platform does not process payments or orders.
Current Stack
- Next.js and TypeScript storefront
- Next.js and TypeScript admin portal
- Node.js and Express backend
- PostgreSQL with Prisma
- Recharts in the current admin dashboard
The source code and an existing basic analytics implementation are already available.
The current system includes limited product-view and store-click reporting. The selected freelancer must review, improve, and extend the existing implementation.
Required Analytics Stack
- PostHog for product analytics, funnels, user paths, retention, and session replay
- Google Analytics 4 for acquisition, campaigns, landing pages, devices, and traffic-source reporting
- PostgreSQL as the internal source of truth for important search, product, and outbound-store events
- An expanded custom analytics section inside the existing admin portal
Main Scope
Analytics Tracking
Implement reliable event tracking for:
- Page and homepage views
- Hero CTA clicks
- Featured Products clicks
- Seasonal Sale clicks
- New Arrivals clicks
- Category and subcategory views and clicks
- Search performed
- Search results viewed
- Search result clicked
- Zero-result searches
- Search cleared or failed
- Filters applied and removed
- Sort changes
- Pagination
- Product impressions
- Product card clicks
- Product page views
- Product color selection
- Product image navigation
- Description and specifications tab selection
- Related product impressions and clicks
- Product share-copy success or failure
- Store and brand page views
- External store website clicks
- “Go to Store” clicks and redirects
- Newsletter subscription started, succeeded, or failed
- Contact form started, submitted, or failed
- Language changes
- Core Web Vitals and important API or link failures
The website currently has no public account registration or login. Visitors should be tracked anonymously using visitor and session IDs.
Outbound Store Tracking
The “Go to Store” action must be recorded server-side.
The developer should improve the current redirect and click-tracking implementation so it records:
- Product
- Store
- Brand
- Category
- Selected color
- Displayed price
- Availability
- Source page
- Product position
- Session and anonymous visitor
- Language and device
- Traffic source
- Redirect success or failure
- Duplicate, bot, and internal-traffic status
PostgreSQL should be the source of truth for these clicks.
PostHog and GA4
Create reusable PostHog dashboards, funnels, and GA4 reports.
PostHog should focus on product discovery and user behavior.
GA4 should focus on:
- Traffic acquisition
- Campaigns
- Landing pages
- Devices
- Countries
- Traffic sources
- Outbound clicks by acquisition source
Existing Admin Dashboard
Expand the existing admin dashboard with:
- Executive KPIs
- Search analytics
- Product performance
- Store and brand performance
- Category performance
- Filter usage
- Conversion funnels
- Product-data quality reports
The dashboard must support filters such as:
- Date range
- Store
- Brand
- Category and subcategory
- Product
- Device
- Language
- Country
- Traffic source
- Sale status
- Availability
- Color
- Material
- Price range
Export Requirements
After filters are applied, administrators must be able to export the filtered results without developer assistance.
Required exports:
- CSV for individual tables
- Excel XLSX with separate report sheets
- PDF management summary with KPIs, charts, date range, and applied filters
Exports must include all matching records, not only the visible table page.
Deliverables
- PostHog setup and dashboards
- GA4 setup, custom dimensions, and reports
- Centralized analytics wrapper
- Client-side and server-side tracking
- Improved store redirect tracking
- PostgreSQL tables, migrations, indexes, and aggregate queries
- Backend reporting APIs
- Expanded admin analytics dashboard
- Dashboard filters
- CSV, Excel, and PDF exports
- Event dictionary
- KPI dictionary
- Tracking plan
- Testing documentation
- Final walkthrough and handover
Required Experience
Please apply only if you have relevant experience with:
- PostHog
- GA4
- Next.js
- Node.js and Express
- PostgreSQL and Prisma
- Product analytics
- Server-side event tracking
- Analytics dashboards
- CSV, XLSX, and PDF exports
- Privacy and consent controls
