Senior PHP Laravel Developer for Mobile App Backend

We’re looking for a senior PHP Laravel developer to help extend the backend of KushScan, a mobile app with image classification features. kushscan.org The project involves expanding an existing production Laravel backend from single-photo analysis to classification based on multiple uploaded photos. You will own the backend implementation and the mobile/backend API contract, while working with our mobile developers and computer vision team to align the full workflow. This role requires 3+ years of backend development experience, strong PHP/Laravel proficiency, solid experience with REST APIs, SQL/MySQL, debugging, testing, and deployment. We also expect good testing practices, a commitment to code quality, and hands-on experience using AI tools to improve real development work. We need someone proactive and independent, with a clear sense of ownership. You should be comfortable navigating an existing codebase, making practical technical decisions in a low-bureaucracy team, communicating clearly with other developers, and supporting the feature through implementation, integration, deployment, and rollout.
