**Senior Principal Engineer / Software Architect (Contract / Project-Based) – Real-Time Multiplayer Gaming** We are one of the leading poker software development companies, building and continuously evolving a large-scale real-time multiplayer poker platform. We're looking for a **Senior Software Architect** or **Principal Engineer** who has deep expertise in **real-time multiplayer systems** and distributed backend architecture. This is a **project-based/contract opportunity** for someone who can work closely with our team to improve and modernize our existing platform over time. ### What You'll Work On * Review and improve the architecture of our legacy poker platform. * Optimize scalability, performance, and reliability for real-time multiplayer gameplay. * Design solutions for high-concurrency systems with low latency. * Improve synchronization, networking, and server-side architecture. * Guide our engineering team on architecture, best practices, and long-term technical decisions. * Identify bottlenecks and propose practical improvements that can be implemented incrementally. ### Ideal Experience * Extensive experience as a Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Software Architect. * Strong background in real-time multiplayer game development or similar low-latency systems. * Experience with distributed systems, WebSockets, event-driven architecture, Redis, messaging queues, and scalable backend services. * Ability to review existing codebases and recommend architectural improvements rather than starting from scratch. * Previous experience with online gaming, poker, casino, betting, or other real-time platforms is a significant advantage. ### Engagement * Contract / Project-based (long-term collaboration preferred). * Open to experienced individual consultants or small specialized engineering agencies. * Flexible working arrangement.
