Senior Product & Technology Advisor | 20–25+ Years Experience | Hourly Consulting

We are seeking a highly experienced Product & Technology Advisor / Product Executive / Startup Mentor with 20–25+ years of real product-building experience for a paid hourly consulting engagement. We are not looking for a traditional Product Manager. We want someone who has personally built, launched, and scaled multiple technology products and can bring decades of practical experience, judgment, and pattern recognition to our founders and leadership team. The ideal advisor has taken products through the full journey: Idea → 0→1 → Launch → Customer Adoption → Enterprise Readiness → Scale You should be able to help us decide what to do now, what to avoid, what challenges are coming next and how to be market ready. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- What We Need Help With Product & Strategy : Defining product strategy and guiding 0→1 development Achieving and deepening product-market fit Building and prioritizing the product roadmap Driving customer adoption and meeting enterprise requirements Identifying blind spots and challenging key assumptions Anticipating product and business challenges before they become expensive Advise on making decisions on what to build, what to delay, and what not to build ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Scaling & Startup Mentorship : Mentoring founders and leadership on how to scale from early product-market fit to significant growth Establishing processes and operating rhythms that support growth without slowing the company down Advising on technical and product debt management during rapid growth Advising on build vs. buy vs. partner decisions at scale Supporting the shift from startup mode to more mature operating rhythms Identifying and resolving scaling bottlenecks in product, engineering, and operations Helping with fundraising narrative, metrics storytelling, and due diligence readiness Guiding the creation of strong product and engineering metrics / OKRs Anticipating common scaling failure modes and helping the company avoid them Preparing the company for the next stage of growth (Series A/B and beyond) Acting as a trusted sparring partner on difficult strategic and organizational decisions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Security, Compliance & Enterprise Readiness : We need an advisor who can guide us on building enterprise-grade security and compliance readiness. Key areas include: Creating a realistic compliance roadmap Reviewing architecture for security gaps SOC 2 (Type I & Type II), SOC 1, ISO 27001, and other relevant certifications Building and maturing the security program and documentation Risk assessments, vendor risk management, and incident response Public Security / Trust Center Enterprise security questionnaires and due diligence processes Penetration testing strategy and vulnerability management SSO, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), SAML, and SCIM Multi-factor authentication (MFA) and role-based access control (RBAC) Privacy and data protection (GDPR, CCPA, Data Processing Agreements) Working with external compliance vendors, auditors, and pen testers Preparing the company for enterprise security reviews and audits ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Construction Technology (Highly Desirable but Optional) IFC / OpenBIM COBie ISO 19650 Construction information management BIM/data interoperability Enterprise construction workflows Common Data Environment (CDE) strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ VC & Investor Experience (Strongly Preferred) : Experience with VCs, fundraising, boards, or technology/product due diligence Advising on fundraising strategy and investor storytelling Helping prepare product, technology, and scalability narratives for investors Preparing the company for technology and product due diligence Guiding founders on key metrics and how to present them Preparing for board meetings and investor updates Helping founders handle investor questions related to product, architecture, and growth Acting as a strategic sounding board during fundraising Advising on investor expectations, product metrics, scalability, and fundraising preparation Advising on how to position the company for the next funding round or growth stage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Our Technology Stack AWS, React, Next.js, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS Cognito, S3, CloudFront, AWS Amplify, and other modern cloud/SaaS technologies. You do not need to be a hands-on developer, but you should be comfortable discussing modern SaaS architecture, scalability, security, and technology strategy with our technical team. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone with: 20–25+ years of real product and technology experience Multiple technology products personally built, launched, and scaled Strong 0→1 experience and proven ability to take products to market Experience scaling products, engineering teams, and organizations Startup and SaaS background (preferably B2B/enterprise) Hands-on experience with enterprise readiness, security, and compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.) Experience advising or working closely with founders and senior leadership VC / investor experience (fundraising, due diligence, board interactions) strongly preferred Ability to act as a trusted sparring partner — challenging assumptions and helping make hard decisions Strong strategic thinking, pattern recognition, and communication skills Comfortable discussing modern cloud/SaaS architecture and technology strategy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Most Important: Show us what you have actually built and launched.
