Sr. Odoo Technical Architect & Backend Engineer +6 Years Minimum

Job Title: Sr. Odoo Technical Architect & Backend Engineer Company: AirParts.aero Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract Location: Remote AirParts Aero is seeking a Sr. Odoo Technical Architect to translate complex business and regulatory business workflows into scalable code, lead current code audit, performance refactoring, ensure optimal Postgres performance, and architectural scaling of our Odoo multi-module ERP system. We use Odoo for core business operations including inventory management, product cataloging, and fulfillment. We are looking for a Python and Odoo framework expert to eliminate ORM bottlenecks, refactor inefficient custom code, and optimize system responsiveness for employees and customers. Key Responsibilities - ORM & Code Auditing: Audit custom Odoo modules to eliminate N+1 query patterns, optimize overrides on search, and refactor improperly triggered compute fields on products and on-hand inventory. - Application Profiling: Instrument APM tools (Sentry, Datadog, PySpy) and native Odoo profiling to trace slow web requests directly to underlying Python methods and recordset operations. - Architectural Design: formulate robust architectural blueprints for extensive, multi-tennant Odoo installations, minimizing technical debt while preserving a scalable core upgrade path. - Performance Tuning: Diagnose and resolve current platform bottlenecks across the application tier, CRM layers, and complex db queries. - Continued Custom Module Development: Develop and repair complex backend business logic, automated workflows, cron jobs, and financial extension engines from business documentation and requirements. - Data Integrity and Migration: Design and code automated data pipelines and ETL scripts for high-fid migrations from legacy 18 to upcoming 19 without disrupting historical ledger consistency. - Odoo Stack Configuration: Optimize Odoo multiprocessing configurations, worker allocations, Gevent setups, and memory limits. - OpenSearch / Search Architecture: Evaluate and implement strategies to speed up search, including ORM refactoring or integrating offloaded search engines for large product catalogs. If needed, select or build an Odoo-to-OpenSearch connector module and override product catalog search methods Qualifications & Requirements 6+ years of deep hands on back-end Odoo core development and architectural experience with v15 through current community/enterprise editions. Must have mastery of the Odoo ORM (multi-company logic, complex inheritance mechanisms (_inherit and _inherits), abstract module, API routing, and custom security rules. - Expert-level knowledge of Odoo framework internals, ORM query generation, recordset evaluation, and module architecture - Proven track record optimizing slow search, high SKU volume catalogs, and transactional bottlenecking in Odoo environments - Advanced Python engineering in Python 3.x, with focus on object oriented programming, concurrency, thread safety, profiling tools, memory management optimization, and performance-debugging skills - Database and Vector search engineering and understanding of PostgreSQL, mastery of query optimization, indexing strategies (B-Tree, GIN, GiST), connection pooling configurations (PgBouncer), and execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN ANALYZE). Familiarity with pgvector or advanced vector search within Postgres for building AI/semantic integrations. - DevOps and infrastructure expertise in deploying Odoo in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and optimizing underlying system assets. Must have a strong understanding of cloud-native infrastructure platforms, and caching layer configurations (Redis, Dragonfly, Memcached) Fluent in reading and writing English, able to understand requirements documents (PRDs) - Open source contributor through active participation in the Odoo Community Association with a strong GitHub profile demonstrating custom Odoo module contributions. - Agile leadership in leading technical design reviews, establishing code quality guidelines through known standards, and mentoring mid-level Python developers.
