Wordpress site - broken database setup?

Working on a Wordpress site which had been set up in the domain.com/wp directory. Trying to move the site to the root directory domain.com/ However this seems to have broken the database connection, and now the wp-login page just gives a 404 error. I cannot log in to the wordpress dashboard via Softaculous in the Direct Admin control panel. I need someone that can fix these problems and ensure that the website sits in the root directory rather than the wp directory.
