Backend, API & Integration Lead

Job Description Nerd On Call Services (NOCS) is seeking an experienced Backend, API & Integration Lead to help build the backend foundation for a nationwide mobile mechanic technology ecosystem. The platform will connect customer, technician, payment, scheduling, communication, accounting, automotive, and other business systems through a centralized backend. This is a lead-level role focused on architecture, integration strategy, implementation review, and technical problem-solving. Responsibilities Design backend architecture Design PostgreSQL data models Architect Supabase implementation Design REST APIs Design webhooks and event-driven workflows Map data between internal and third-party systems Establish authentication and authorization Establish permissions and data security Review backend implementation Review API and integration work Troubleshoot complex integration issues Ensure data consistency Establish API and integration documentation Work closely with the Technical Lead Guide execution within the backend/integration specialty Potential Integrations The project may involve: Square RingCentral Google Workspace Google Drive QuickBooks ALLDATA PartsTech AutoZone Pro Advance Nexpart Required Experience 5+ years backend development Strong PostgreSQL experience Strong REST API experience Third-party API integrations Webhooks Authentication/OAuth Data modeling Backend security Production troubleshooting Experience leading or reviewing developers Preferred Supabase PostgreSQL Node.js / TypeScript / Python Payment APIs Accounting APIs Automotive data APIs Row-level security Realtime systems Engagement Project-based freelance engagement with work organized around phases, technical deliverables, and milestones. You will not simply receive a ticket queue. We are looking for someone capable of determining how the backend should work and how the execution should be validated.
