Backend Engineer (Go & Python) - AI Infrastructure Location: Remote, US (Core hours: 9am-5pm ET) Type: Full-time Clearance: Active US Security Clearance preferred; Eligibility required The Challenge We have built a proprietary, high-performance AI platform. It is sophisticated, battle-tested, and complex. We are looking for a dedicated Backend Engineer to join our small team—someone ready to step up, digest a dense codebase, and contribute to a system that demands technical rigor. The Reality • Steep Learning Curve: This is not a standard CRUD app. Our infrastructure involves complex interactions between Go services, Python AI models, and Kubernetes. • Deep Focus Required: The first few weeks will require dedication to building a mental model of the system. You will need to read code, trace logs, and ask the right questions. • High Autonomy: Once you are up to speed, you will be trusted to own your features from design to deployment. Who You Are • Relentlessly Curious: You don’t just use libraries; you want to know how they work internally. When you hit a bug, you don’t stop until you understand the root cause. • Systems-Minded: You might not be an expert in everything yet, but you have strong fundamentals. You understand that software is about trade-offs (memory vs. speed, consistency vs. availability). • Fearless Learner: You aren’t intimidated by a large, undocumented codebase. You view “I don’t know” as an invitation to explore, not a dead end. • AI-Fluent: You use AI tools in your development workflow and stay current with how the field is evolving. You know when AI helps and when it doesn’t. • Polyglot: You have production experience in both Go and Python and are ready to become expert in both. We build microservices in both languages. • Clearance Eligible: You are a US Citizen (required for security clearance eligibility). What You’ll Do • Master the Stack: Deeply understand our architecture (Go, Python, K8s, gRPC) and adopt our patterns (DDD, dependency injection). • Build & Maintain: Implement new features and maintain system stability. You will ensure our code remains clean and reliable as we scale. • Solve Hard Problems: Debug distributed system issues that don’t have StackOverflow answers.
