About the role: We run a US-based automotive-parts e-commerce store with a large product/engineering backlog. Our small team (founder + one senior backend engineer) can't move through it fast enough alone. We're hiring a third builder to work in parallel — someone who can own real systems end-to-end, not just implement pixels. You'll build things like: search relevance and ranking, filter logic across a large fitment-based catalog, recommended-products and cross-sell logic, "complete the repair" bundle recommendations, and automated SEO landing-page generation — real systems with data and logic behind them, not one-off page edits. Primary skill = full-stack systems building. You should be equally comfortable designing the backend logic/data model for a feature and building the frontend that surfaces it. You think in terms of "how does this system behave at scale, what breaks it, how do I test it" — not just "does this look right." React/Next.js frontend, and real backend chops (APIs, databases, query performance, data pipelines). We are not asking you to own conversion strategy or UI polish — that's handled separately. Your job is to build systems that actually work, fast, and hold up under real traffic.
