Google Workspace & GCP Automation Engineer – Gemini, Apps Script, Jira

We are a small nonprofit looking for an experienced automation engineer to build a secure, maintainable AI reporting agent across Google Workspace, GCP and Jira. The agent will collect read-only evidence of team activity from multiple sources, structure it into a central ledger, and use the Gemini API to generate a weekly management brief and reporting dashboard. Objectives ● Build the Reporting Agent: Develop and deploy the automation within our own Google Workspace and GCP environment. ● Integrate Key Data Sources: Collect activity and relevant data from Jira, Google Docs, Calendar and selected Shared Drives using their APIs. ● Create an Evidence Ledger: Store structured, append-only activity data that can be used for reporting and future AI analysis. ● Generate Weekly AI Briefs: Use the Gemini API to analyse the collected data and draft a structured weekly management brief for human review. ● Create a Reporting Dashboard: Build a simple Looker Studio dashboard providing management visibility across teams and activity. ● Ensure Secure, Maintainable Deployment: Implement appropriate authentication, permissions and credential management, with source systems remaining read-only. ● Document and Handover: Provide clear technical documentation and complete handover of the system, code and credentials. Requirements ● Strong experience with Google Workspace APIs, particularly Drive, Calendar and Docs ● Experience with Apps Script and GCP services such as Cloud Run/Functions, Scheduler and Secret Manager ● Experience building with the Gemini API ● Experience integrating REST APIs, ideally Jira Cloud Strong ● Python or Node.js development skills ● Good understanding of OAuth, service accounts, permissions and secure credential management ● Experience designing structured data pipelines or data models for LLM-based systems Preferred ● Experience with Looker Studio ● Experience building internal reporting, management intelligence or AI analysis systems ● Experience working with private organisational data and LLMs Any attempt to contact us outside Upwork — including by email, phone, LinkedIn, or any other channel — will result in immediate rejection of your proposal and will be reported where possible.
