Senior Software Engineer – Booking, Payments & Operations Platform 6 Nov 2026 · @David Location: Remote Overview We're a small digital agency that runs the technology for a growing, multi-location adventure tourism business in the US. We're looking for a senior engineer to take day-to-day ownership of the client's tech stack: the booking and reservation systems, payments, phone and chat infrastructure, tracking, and the growing set of AI tools that support the team. You'll report directly to our CEO, who handles all communication with the client, so you can focus on the engineering. You'll have real say in how things are built. This is a long-term engagement for the right person. What You'll Do • Own the client's core systems, including MongoDB-backed reservation and flight-ops platforms, and keep them fast, reliable and secure. • Maintain the payment and checkout flow (CardPointe) and help cut down failed bookings. • Support the voice and messaging stack (Asterisk, Twilio, Telnyx) and the in-house chat system used by the call center. • Modernize legacy code step by step, including putting an MCP/API layer in front of older services so they can be replaced cleanly. • Build and improve AI tools such as email reply drafting, review replies and call-quality analysis. • Manage infrastructure on Hetzner, MongoDB Atlas and AWS, including server-side tracking and the media pipeline. • Keep code, deployments and documentation tidy in GitLab so the next person can pick things up easily. What You Bring • Experience: 7+ years building and running production web systems, with time spent owning systems end to end. • Skills: Strong with Node.js and/or Python, MongoDB, REST APIs and Linux servers. • Bonus points: Telephony (SIP, Twilio), payment integrations, LLM/AI tooling, or Shopify. • Approach: You work independently, communicate clearly, and prefer simple, practical solutions. • Availability: Comfortable overlapping with US Pacific and Hawaii business hours.
