AI Developer Needed — Web-Based Personal AI Assistant / Long-Term Development We are looking for a talented and reliable AI/full-stack developer to help us build the first version of a new web-based personal artificial intelligence assistant. This is intended to become a long-term commercial product, not a one-time demo or simple chatbot. Our immediate budget for the first development milestone is $100. We understand that $100 is not enough to build the entire platform described below. We are intentionally starting with a focused V1/MVP milestone so that we can evaluate the developer’s technical ability, communication, code quality, reliability, and ability to understand the larger vision. If the first milestone goes well, we intend to continue development through Version 2, Version 3, Version 4, Version 5, Version 6, and beyond, with additional paid milestones and approximately monthly product updates as the platform grows. We would therefore strongly prefer someone interested in becoming a long-term development partner rather than someone interested only in completing a single $100 task. PRODUCT VISION We want to create a personal AI assistant that users can access directly through a web browser such as Safari, Chrome, Edge, etc. The initial product should be web-first rather than requiring users to download an application from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. A user should eventually be able to visit our website, create an account, sign in, and interact with their own AI assistant from their phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop. The long-term goal is to build something that feels less like opening a generic chatbot and more like accessing a persistent personal AI assistant that becomes increasingly useful to that individual over time. We do NOT want to train a foundation model from scratch. We expect the platform to initially use established AI APIs/models and build our own product experience, backend, memory architecture, tools, interface, user system, safeguards, and business model around those capabilities. VERSION 1 — FIRST $100 MILESTONE For the initial $100 milestone, we want to establish a working technical foundation for the product. We are open to discussing the exact V1 deliverables with the selected developer before beginning because we want the scope to be realistic for the budget. Ideally, V1 should include as many of the following foundational capabilities as reasonably possible: * Responsive web-based AI chat interface * Clean mobile-friendly design * Ability to communicate with an AI model through an API * Backend API architecture * Secure server-side handling of AI API credentials * Basic user account architecture and/or authentication * Conversation interface * Conversation history foundation * New conversation functionality * Loading/response states * Basic error handling * Database architecture or initial database integration * Foundation for individual user data * Architecture that can be expanded without rebuilding the entire application * Deployment of a working development/demo version * Clean, organized, documented source code * Git/version-control-friendly project structure The developer should never expose private API keys in frontend/client-side code. If implementing all of these items is unrealistic for $100, applicants should tell us what they believe constitutes the strongest V1 milestone for that amount and explain what they would implement first. We value realistic technical recommendations more than someone simply agreeing to everything. IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT THE ENTIRE PROJECT FOR $100 Please understand this before submitting a proposal. We are not expecting the complete product described below for $100. The $100 budget is for the first milestone only. We want to establish the foundation and then progressively add capabilities through additional paid milestones. A developer who successfully completes V1 may have the opportunity to continue working with us through many subsequent versions. LONG-TERM DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP The exact roadmap may change based on user feedback and technical recommendations, but we currently envision development roughly along these lines. Version 2 — Accounts, Memory & Personalization Potential features: * Improved account creation and login * Secure authentication * User profiles * Persistent conversation history * Searchable conversations * Rename/delete conversations * User preferences * Basic long-term memory * Ability for the assistant to remember approved information about the user * Ability for users to review/manage remembered information * Better personalization * Improved database architecture * Improved mobile experience * Streaming AI responses * Regenerate response * Stop generation * Copy responses * Feedback controls Memory is particularly important to our long-term vision. We don’t want every conversation to feel as though the AI is meeting the user for the first time. At the same time, memory should be transparent and controllable. Users should ultimately have the ability to understand what information is being retained and remove information they no longer want remembered. Version 3 — Voice & Multimodal Capabilities Potential features: * Speech-to-text * Voice conversations * Text-to-speech responses * Multiple voice options where technically/licensing-wise appropriate * Image uploads * Document uploads * AI analysis of uploaded files * Image understanding * Camera/photo input on supported devices * Better mobile controls * Drag-and-drop file support on desktop * File storage architecture * File size/type validation * Usage limits The objective is for users to interact naturally instead of being restricted to typing. Version 4 — Personal AI Tools We would begin transforming the product from an AI chatbot into a broader AI assistant platform. Potential capabilities include: * Web search integration * Current-information retrieval * Weather information * Calculations * Research assistance * Summarization * Writing assistance * Brainstorming * Planning * Task organization * Reminders * Calendar integration * Email integration * User-authorized third-party integrations * Tool/function calling * Structured AI outputs * Personal productivity tools External integrations must use appropriate authorization methods such as OAuth where applicable. The AI should never receive unrestricted access to a user’s external accounts simply because an integration exists. Version 5 — Proactive Personal Assistant Potential capabilities: * User-created reminders * Scheduled AI tasks * Recurring tasks * Personalized daily briefings * Follow-up reminders * Notification architecture * User-configurable routines * Preference-aware recommendations * Context-aware assistance * More sophisticated memory retrieval * Better tool selection/routing * Improved personalization Our goal is eventually for the product to help users before they have to repeatedly ask for the same things. All proactive behavior should remain user-controlled. Version 6 — Expanded AI Platform Potential features: * Multiple AI models/providers * Intelligent model routing * Faster/cheaper models for simple requests * More capable models for difficult requests * Expanded integrations * Advanced research workflows * Improved memory * Advanced voice interaction * Expanded file capabilities * Improved personalization * Custom user instructions * Additional assistant personalities/styles * Additional accessibility features * Additional productivity tools * Improved analytics * Administrative dashboard * Usage management * Subscription management * Additional security controls Versions beyond V6 would continue expanding based on actual customer usage and feedback. HOW WE WANT TO DIFFERENTIATE THE PRODUCT We understand that there are already many AI chat products. We are therefore not interested in simply cloning an existing chatbot interface and putting another name on it. Our differentiation should come from the complete product experience. 1. Personal continuity The assistant should gradually become more useful because it can retain appropriate user-approved context instead of treating every session as completely isolated. 2. User-controlled memory Users should ultimately be able to view, edit, and delete stored memories/preferences. 3. Action-oriented assistance Over time, the assistant should progress from merely answering questions toward helping users accomplish tasks through authorized tools and integrations. 4. Web-first accessibility Users should be able to access the product quickly from a browser without being required to install an application. The interface should still feel polished on an iPhone or Android device and potentially support Progressive Web App capabilities later. 5. Cross-device continuity A user’s account, conversations, preferences, and appropriate memories should eventually follow them between supported devices. 6. Voice interaction Voice should eventually make the assistant feel significantly more natural and accessible. 7. Continuous development We intend to improve the product regularly rather than launch it once and abandon development. Our current goal is approximately one meaningful update per month, although the exact schedule will depend on development complexity. 8. Multiple capabilities in one assistant Instead of requiring users to jump between unrelated AI tools, we eventually want one assistant capable of intelligently using different models, tools, integrations, files, voice features, and information sources. SUBSCRIPTION / MONETIZATION This is intended to become a commercial subscription product. Later milestones may therefore include: * Free tier * Paid subscription tier(s) * Stripe or another appropriate payment provider * Subscription checkout * Subscription management * Usage quotas * AI usage metering * Rate limits * Feature restrictions based on plan * Upgrade/downgrade functionality * Billing status * Failed-payment handling * Cancellation * Administrative controls * Usage/cost analytics The architecture should eventually allow us to understand approximately how much AI/API usage each customer generates so that subscription pricing can remain financially sustainable. TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE We are open to recommendations from experienced developers. Possible technologies could include: * Python * JavaScript/TypeScript * React * Next.js * Node.js * FastAPI * PostgreSQL * Supabase * Firebase * Vercel * AWS * Other appropriate modern technologies These are not mandatory requirements unless agreed upon before the contract begins. We care more about selecting an architecture that is: * Secure * Maintainable * Scalable * Cost-conscious * Documented * Easy for another qualified developer to understand * Appropriate for incremental development We do not want unnecessary infrastructure or premature overengineering. AI PROVIDER ARCHITECTURE The system should ideally be designed so that we are not permanently locked into one AI provider. Long term, we may want to support multiple providers/models. For example, different models could potentially be selected based on: * Cost * Speed * Reasoning requirements * Context requirements * Multimodal capabilities * Availability * User subscription level We are particularly interested in developers who understand LLM APIs, streaming, tool/function calling, context management, token usage, memory systems, and model routing. SECURITY & PRIVACY Because this application may eventually process personal conversations and user files, security must be considered from the beginning. We expect sensible practices including: * API keys stored server-side * Environment variables/secrets management * Secure authentication * Authorization checks * Input validation * Appropriate database access controls * HTTPS in production * Rate limiting * Secure file handling * Appropriate password/authentication practices * Protection against one user accessing another user’s information * Logging that does not unnecessarily expose sensitive user information * Dependency/security maintenance * Backups where appropriate We do not expect enterprise infrastructure in the $100 V1 milestone, but we do want the foundation built responsibly. CODE OWNERSHIP & HANDOFF Because this is a commercial product, we need a clean development handoff. Deliverables for paid milestones should include the applicable: * Source code * Project files * Database schema/migrations * Configuration instructions * Dependency information * Deployment instructions * Documentation necessary to run the project * Appropriate credentials/accounts created under our ownership where practical * Explanation of any third-party paid services being used We do not want the product dependent on a developer’s private account in a way that prevents us from maintaining or transferring the project later. The final contract terms will govern ownership, but applicants should be comfortable building a commercial product where paid deliverables are being developed for the client. DEVELOPMENT APPROACH We prefer milestone-based development. For each version/milestone, we want to agree on: 1. Exact deliverables 2. Price 3. Expected completion period 4. Acceptance criteria The developer builds the milestone, provides a working demonstration, and we test the functionality. Once a milestone is successfully completed, we can discuss and fund the next milestone. This gives both sides clear expectations and allows the product to grow in controlled stages. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The ideal developer has experience with several of the following: * AI application development * LLM APIs * Natural language processing * Python * JavaScript/TypeScript * Modern web development * REST APIs * Streaming responses * Authentication * Databases * Cloud deployment * AI tool/function calling * AI memory/RAG systems * Vector databases/embeddings where appropriate * Subscription systems * Stripe integration * Responsive/mobile web development * Security best practices * Git/version control You do not necessarily need experience with every item. We are more interested in finding someone who can build the foundation correctly and continue learning/growing with the product. WHAT WE DO NOT WANT Please do not apply if your plan is simply to: * Copy an existing chatbot template * Hard-code an API key into the frontend * Deliver undocumented code * Build something we cannot deploy ourselves * Claim that every feature above can be completed for $100 * Use unlicensed/copied proprietary assets or code * Build unnecessary infrastructure simply to increase the project cost We want someone who understands the difference between an MVP foundation and the eventual complete product. FIRST MILESTONE PROPOSAL When applying, please answer the following: 1. Have you previously built an AI/LLM-powered web application? If yes, briefly describe what you personally implemented. 2. Which AI APIs/providers have you worked with? 3. What technology stack would you recommend for this project and why? 4. Given the initial $100 milestone, exactly what would you deliver for V1? Please be realistic. We would rather receive a smaller, properly built foundation than a large amount of incomplete functionality. 5. How would you structure the application so additional features can be added through V2, V3, V4, V5, V6 and later releases without repeatedly rebuilding the application? 6. How would you protect API keys and user data? 7. Are you comfortable working through clearly defined paid milestones if the initial milestone is successful? 8. Are you interested in potentially working on monthly updates and long-term development? WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE At the end of the first milestone, we want to have something real and testable, not screenshots or a mockup. The ideal outcome is a functioning web-based foundation that demonstrates the core architecture and gives us something we can immediately continue developing. From there, we want to progressively transform that foundation into a polished commercial AI assistant. We are looking for someone who sees the value in building this correctly from the beginning and who may be interested in helping us take it from V1 → V2 → V3 → V4 → V5 → V6 → ongoing monthly releases. If that sounds like the type of project you would enjoy working on, please submit a proposal explaining specifically how you would approach our first $100 milestone. We have attached an image that is an artificially generated image which you can make exactly or you can use it as a reference to the artificial intelligence apps design
