Senior Full-Stack Engineer / Tech Lead (AI Automation & Agentic AI)

About the Role: Next Gen Studio is an AI Automation agency that builds intelligent systems to help organizations eliminate repetitive, manual processes. We focus on rapid, 14-day pilot rollouts implementing document extraction, autonomous research, and advanced workflow coordination with a strict "Human-in-the-loop" safety approach. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full-Stack Engineer / Technical Lead based in Lagos, Nigeria, for a long-term, hourly contract basis. This is a fully remote position with extreme flexibility. You can work 5, 10, 20, or more hours per week depending on the current sprint and your availability. Location Requirement: Based in Lagos/Nigeria (WAT timezone) for asynchronous/synchronous communication alignment. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain multi-agent AI architectures and orchestrations using modern framework tools (LangChain, LangGraph, or CrewAI). - Implement precise data extraction pipelines to transform unstructured files (PDFs, emails, web data) into clean JSON structures. - Build fast, highly secure, and scalable REST APIs and background task managers to handle long-running automation processes. - Create clean, minimalist dashboards, value calculators, and "Human-in-the-loop" approval panels for our clients using React.js/Next.js and Tailwind CSS. - Act as a technical leader, ensuring secure data isolation, monitoring LLM token usage/costs, and setting up strict AI fallback safety criteria. Required Technical Skills: - AI Frameworks: In-depth experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent agentic AI tools. - Backend: Advanced Python (FastAPI/Django) and/or Node.js/TypeScript. - Frontend: Strong proficiency in React.js / Next.js and Tailwind CSS. - Data & Queues: Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and asynchronous message/task queues (Celery). - Automation Tools (Plus): Hands-on experience with workflow platforms like n8n or Make.com is a huge advantage. - DevOps: Familiarity with Docker, cloud providers (AWS/GCP), and AI evaluation tools (LangSmith/Phoenix). Qualifications: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience (Full-Stack or Backend heavy). - Proven experience building and deploying production-ready AI or automation features. - Excellent English communication and documentation skills. - Ability to self-manage, log hours transparently, and collaborate via Upwork Time Tracker.
