Backend Engineer – Node.js – Payment Orchestration (FR)

About the role We are looking for a French Speaker Senior Backend Engineer to join an international fintech company building payment infrastructure and orchestration solutions. You will work on a transaction-heavy platform connected to multiple Payment Service Providers and external payment APIs. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex backend and payment problems. Tech stack Node.js / TypeScript AWS PostgreSQL REST APIs Distributed backend systems Payment APIs and PSP integrations Responsibilities Develop and maintain the backend of the payment platform. Integrate new PSPs and payment providers. Build and improve payment routing and orchestration logic. Work on cascading / fallback mechanisms between providers. Develop and maintain APIs and third-party integrations. Handle webhooks and transaction lifecycle events. Investigate and resolve payment and integration issues. Improve system reliability, performance and scalability. Contribute to technical architecture and engineering decisions. Work closely with Product and Payment Operations teams. Requirements French Speaker 5+ years of backend development experience. Strong Node.js / TypeScript skills. Solid experience with AWS and backend architecture. Strong knowledge of APIs and third-party integrations. Previous experience in payments, fintech or other transaction-heavy environments. Good understanding of scalability, reliability and performance. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate complex technical issues. Hands-on and comfortable working independently. Nice to have Payment orchestration experience. Multi-PSP integrations. Payment routing / cascading. Recurring payments / subscriptions. Tokenization. Webhooks and transaction lifecycle management.
