Next.js Developer Needed to Build a Live Trip-Tracking and Trip-Sharing Web Application

We are looking for an experienced Next.js developer to build a live trip-tracking web application for our ride-hailing platform, Monochrome. The purpose of this feature is to allow a customer taking a trip to share a secure tracking link with friends or family. The recipient should be able to open the URL in any mobile or desktop web browser without downloading the Monochrome app or signing into an account. The webpage should allow the recipient to follow the trip live, similar to the trip-tracking screen available inside the customer application. The tracking page should display: (all items can be fetched from websocket messages/updates) * The driver’s live location on a map * The vehicle moving along the route in real time * The customer’s pickup location * Any stopover locations * The final destination * The planned route * The estimated arrival time * The current stage of the trip * The driver’s first name and rating * The vehicle’s make, model, colour and registration number * The time the trip information was last updated The trip status should update throughout the journey, including: * Driver accepted the trip * Driver is travelling to the pickup * Driver arrived at the pickup * Trip started * Driver reached a stopover * Return journey in progress * Trip extended * Trip completed Each shared trip should have a unique, secure and difficult-to-guess URL, for example: https://ourdomain.com/t/rideId The URL should only provide access to the specific shared trip. It must not expose the customer’s account, other trips or sensitive personal information. When the trip is completed, cancelled or the link expires, live tracking should stop and the page should display the appropriate final status. The frontend should be developed in Next.js and designed as a responsive, mobile-first webpage. It should work properly on phones, tablets and desktop computers. The system will need to connect to our existing backend so that driver location, route details, trip status and estimated arrival time can update in real time. The developer should recommend and implement an appropriate real-time method, such as WebSockets or Socket.IO, with sensible reconnect and fallback behaviour. The finished feature should include: * A production-ready Next.js frontend * Integration with Google Maps or an agreed mapping provider * Real-time connection to our backend * Secure trip-token handling * Mobile and desktop responsiveness * Loading, offline, expired-link and error states * Cross-browser testing * Deployment documentation * Clear instructions for connecting the frontend to our existing trip and driver-location APIs We already have an initial Next.js visual prototype that demonstrates the intended layout and user experience. This prototype can be provided to the developer as a starting point. All sockets and statuses are already. Backend is already complete. this should be a straight forward task
