On-Camera Historian and Livestream Host for History YouTube Channel

We run an established educational history channel and are expanding into recurring interactive livestreams. Our channel link: https://www.youtube.com/@Knowledgia We need a knowledgeable, engaging, and reliable on-camera historian who can make broad historical subjects clear and entertaining for a general audience. We will collaborate with Native English Speaker Only! You will stream while reviewing videos from our own catalogue : pausing to add context, introducing related events and personalities, discussing debates and uncertainties, and expanding on details the original video could not include. You will also read selected viewer comments, answer historical questions live, and guide the conversation naturally without a word-for-word script. Topics may span ancient, medieval, early modern, and modern history across regions. Nobody knows every detail from memory, but you must bring broad historical knowledge, recognize the limits of your expertise, and never invent answers when uncertain. Main responsibilities: - Host about one history livestream per week (roughly 60 to 90 minutes live) - Review the selected video and topic before going live - Expand on our videos with context, nuance, stories, and clear explanations, without oversimplifying - Read viewer comments and answer questions in real time, keeping streams structured, energetic, and accessible - Handle disputed or politically sensitive history carefully and objectively, acknowledging uncertainty rather than improvising. Focus on neutral stances and just the historical narrative . - Coordinate with our producer before each broadcast and complete a technical rehearsal before the first public stream Required qualifications: - Strong general knowledge across multiple historical eras and regions - Professional background as a historian, history teacher, lecturer, museum educator, researcher, presenter, journalist, or documentary contributor - Excellent spoken English and a confident, friendly, natural on-camera presence - Able to speak independently, keep a conversation organized, and answer unscripted audience questions - Comfortable reacting to prerecorded content and sharing your screen - Reliable weekly availability and a respectful, constructive communication style A history degree, teaching background, or published historical work is preferred; demonstrated expertise and exceptional presentation ability may substitute for formal credentials. Technical requirements (you must already have): - A camera with a professional 1080p image, a clear external USB or XLR microphone, headphones, proper lighting, and a quiet, presentable background/greenscreen - Stable internet, preferably wired Ethernet, with enough upload bandwidth for dependable HD streaming - Familiarity with OBS, StreamYard, Restream, or similar, including smooth screen sharing and video playback This is an ongoing hourly role starting at about 2 hours per week, beginning with a paid trial, with room to expand based on performance and audience response. Finalists may be asked to complete a short, fully paid mock livestream.
