We are looking for an experienced Computer Vision engineer with deep expertise in Python and OpenCV to optimize an existing production image-processing pipeline that detects UI elements in video game screenshots.
This is a highly technical project focused on building a fast, accurate, production-ready visual detection system using classical computer vision. This is not an AI/LLM project.
Required skills: expert Python, expert OpenCV, template matching including multi-scale, image preprocessing, feature detection and image alignment, OCR optimization or replacement, confidence scoring, bounding box detection, and high-throughput performance tuning.
The solution must:
- Detect target visual elements with extremely high accuracy
- Return bounding box coordinates and a confidence score for every detection
- Produce near-zero false positives and false negatives
- Work consistently across resolutions, aspect ratios and scaling (1080p, 1440p, 4K, ultrawide, super ultrawide)
- Be optimized for high images per second and low latency
- Integrate into our existing Python pipeline (no API, backend or UI work needed)
Acceptance criteria:
- Production-ready OpenCV implementation integrated into the existing pipeline
- Standalone Python validation script that runs on a folder of images and reports detection result, bounding box, confidence, time per image, images per second, precision, recall, false positive rate and false negative rate
- Passes all provided positive and negative test cases with zero false positives on negative images
- Clear documentation of the approach and tuning
To apply, please include examples of similar OpenCV work, your approach to near-zero false positives, and any benchmark results from past projects.
