Senior Django Developer

This is a lead role. The first major mission: rebuilding our internal system (legacy PHP/Symfony → Django + React) and migrating years of production data — after that, the roadmap is deep: a customer-facing analytics product built on the new platform, and AI-assisted data workflows. You'd be the senior technical voice, working directly with a hands-on product owner and one part-time developer. The work: propose schema + migration plans per module (approved before you build), stand up the foundation (auth, field-level permissions, API-first), and run a phased migration where nothing is silently dropped or merged. How we work — this is most of the job: the documents are the spec; the legacy code is not. Questions go to the product owner as you hit them — answered same-day — not batched into a final deliverable. AI tooling is expected; what we hire for is judgment: you verify what your tools produce, and we evaluate how you work, not just what you produce. Our test task is effort-capped and graded on exactly that. You: senior Django, with at least one real legacy-data migration behind you, looking for a multi-year home, not a project gig. Full-time only Big pluses: can read PHP/Symfony, comfortable doing serviceable React, experience working solo with a non-technical founder.
