Senior React Native + Full-Stack Engineer – Consumer Social App We’re looking for a senior full-stack engineer with particularly strong React Native/Expo experience to join the development of a consumer social mobile app. This will start as an approximately one-month engagement, with the potential to extend if there’s a strong fit. You’ll be joining an existing codebase and engineering team. Mobile is our main product surface, but this is a genuinely full-stack role: you should be comfortable owning work that can cross from the React Native app into GraphQL, backend services, databases, and infrastructure when needed. The app includes functionality such as: • Feed and posting • Profiles • 1:1 and group chat • Stories • Photo/video upload and playback • Notifications • Real-time social functionality WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR You should have substantial hands-on experience building and shipping production React Native applications, ideally consumer-facing products with social, messaging, media, or similarly interactive functionality. We’re also looking for meaningful backend engineering experience. Our backend is written in Go, but prior Go experience is not required if you have strong backend fundamentals and are comfortable ramping into an existing Go codebase. You’ll be working alongside other developers who already know the system. You should be comfortable: • Building and refining production React Native/Expo features • Working across frontend and backend when a feature requires it • Designing or modifying APIs and data flows • Debugging issues independently across multiple layers of a system • Working with databases, caching, authentication, and real-time functionality • Understanding an existing architecture before making changes • Testing your own work and thinking through edge cases and regressions • Collaborating effectively in an established codebase This role is mobile-first, so substantial React Native experience matters. We’re not looking for someone whose experience is primarily React web with only limited mobile work. You are not expected to have used every technology above. We care much more about where you have real depth, your underlying engineering ability, and whether you can get productive in technologies that are new to you. QUALITY This is an existing consumer product rather than a basic prototype. We care about features feeling fast, reliable, intuitive, and polished — not simply technically working.
