Arabic-speaking full-stack Django/React developer (Full-time)

We are an edutech company building software that teaches Arabic to both native and non-native speakers. Our mission is to spread Arabic — the language of the Quran — around the world, and to make it easier for everyone to learn and understand. We're a mission-driven team in an exciting growth phase. With several successful projects behind us, we're expanding and building a new squad to take our work further. The Product You'll be working on an existing platform designed to help Arabic students strengthen their language skills. It helps students achieve higher marks in their Arabic exams and gives parents a way to help their children grow to love and improve their Arabic. The product is small-scale today, but our ambitions are high. Exciting features are on the roadmap, including a customized flipbook with voice detection and student reading correction, and personalized assessments of each student's strengths and weaknesses. Your Role We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer (5+ years) to join our squad as a hands-on individual contributor. You'll report to the Tech Lead and Team Lead, and work as one of two full-stack engineers on the team, alongside a UI/UX designer, QA, and business analyst. This is a backfill role, and we're hiring as soon as possible. What You'll Do - Build and enhance new features across the full stack, using Django and React - Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code, including unit tests - Own features end-to-end, from understanding written specifications through coding, testing, and delivery - Work effectively within a large existing codebase, getting up to speed quickly and respecting established patterns - Research and evaluate third-party services and libraries independently, weighing their trade-offs and impact on the rest of the codebase - Contribute to challenging upcoming features such as voice detection and personalized student assessments - Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, and communicate clearly with the tech lead, team lead, and wider squad What We're Looking For Must-haves - 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience - Strong proficiency with Django (Python) on the backend - Solid experience with React on the frontend - Experience with MySQL and Redis - Comfortable building and consuming REST APIs - Familiarity with Docker and cloud environments - Ability to write unit tests as a matter of habit - Able to quickly grasp new technologies and do your own research - Capable of assessing the pros and cons of a given library or service and its effects on the wider system - A highly effective communicator with strong logical-thinking skills - Team-oriented, even when working independently - Open to feedback from the team and tech leads, and eager to keep growing Values & mindset We're a mission-driven company, and we're looking for someone whose values align with ours.
