I'm a developer building a music rhythm game (Unity). Gameplay is traced shapes synchronized to the music, so for each song I need reliable beat positions, BPM and phrase timing — exact start and end timestamps of musical sequences.
I already auto-extract beats and onsets with Python (librosa), but I can't properly judge the results: whether the detected beats are right, whether the BPM is correct (or off by half/double), and where musical phrases really start and end.
I'm NOT looking for someone to annotate songs for me — I want to learn to do it myself.
What I need from you:
1–2 screen-share sessions, working on my actual tracks
How to verify auto-detected beats and BPM: hearing when a beat grid is wrong, spotting half-time/double-time errors, checking against the audio
How to properly assess rhythm and find where musical phrases begin and end, with a musician's judgment, not just an algorithm's markers
Your practical workflow and tools: Sonic Visualiser, a DAW, tap-tempo, whatever you really use
If you use AI tools to automate parts of this, great — show me. But I don't mind doing it manually either.
You should be: a musician, music producer or audio engineer who does timing/rhythm work in practice and can explain it clearly to a non-musician programmer.
Thanks :)
