WordPress Website Maintenance & Technical Support

We’re looking for a senior WordPress developer for ongoing website maintenance, development, technical support and SEO across several client websites. You’ll support approximately five client accounts including a law firm, marketing agency, sustainability/fashion organization, real estate company and title company. Some sites only require basic hosting and maintenance while others need ongoing development, SEO, analytics and technical troubleshooting. The law firm has the largest workload and includes WordPress maintenance, technical SEO, local SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, analytics/reporting, legal-directory support and occasional landing pages or new functionality. The agency website requires maintenance, SEO, page development and optimization of an existing AI chatbot. The sustainability client needs maintenance, SEO and regular page/content updates. The real estate and title sites mainly require reliable hosting and general maintenance. This is not a basic page-builder role. We need someone who can independently diagnose problems and work across both WordPress and the surrounding web infrastructure. Strong experience with WordPress, PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, themes, plugins and custom functionality is important. You should be comfortable troubleshooting plugin conflicts, PHP errors, broken forms, performance issues and unexpected site behavior. You should also understand hosting, DNS, SSL, Cloudflare/CDN, caching, backups, staging and migrations. You do not need to be a DevOps engineer but you should be able to determine whether an issue comes from WordPress, DNS, SSL or the hosting/server environment and resolve common issues without needing step-by-step direction. Technical SEO experience should include Google Search Console, crawling/indexing, redirects, canonical tags, XML sitemaps, schema, Core Web Vitals and on-page technical optimization. Experience with Screaming Frog, Yoast or Rank Math is useful. GA4, Google Tag Manager and Google Business Profile experience is also valuable. Occasionally we receive requests involving new technology such as AI chatbots, forms, CRM connections or other third-party services. Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, Zapier, Make or similar integrations is a strong plus. We want someone comfortable researching an unfamiliar technical request and recommending a practical solution. Experience with WP-CLI, Git, Composer, Redis/object caching, New Relic or similar debugging and performance tools is also a plus. We’re primarily looking for a senior WordPress developer who also understands technical SEO, rather than an SEO marketer who occasionally works with WordPress.
