Start your proposal with: “STOQ” long-term opportunity Time estimate 3-5 weeks for completion This $400 project is only Phase 1. I am specifically looking for a developer who can become my long-term technical developer and partner as Stoq grows. I am a first-time SaaS founder and I am not highly technical, so being able to communicate clearly, explain technical decisions in simple language, and help me make smart decisions is extremely important. I don’t just want someone to write code and disappear. I want someone who can help me build Stoq correctly from the beginning. If Phase 1 validates the product and we start getting paying users, there will be significantly more paid development work. what is stoq? Stoq is a SaaS platform designed specifically for online resellers. The goal is to make managing a reselling business dramatically easier than using: * Spreadsheets * Notes * Multiple apps * Manual calculations * Separate inventory systems The core workflow is: buy → track → list → sell → know your profit A reseller should be able to quickly understand: * What they own * How much they paid * Where they bought it * What is currently in inventory * What has sold * What it sold for * Marketplace fees * Shipping * Business expenses * Actual profit * How much money is tied up in inventory I want Stoq to feel like a financial command center for resellers, not another boring inventory database. the reaction we’re trying to create When a reseller first uses Stoq, I want them to think: “Wait… this is exactly what I’ve been needing.” And after using it: “I don’t want to go back to spreadsheets.” The product needs to be extremely simple while still being useful for serious resellers. target customers Stoq is specifically for: * eBay sellers * Depop sellers * Poshmark sellers * Mercari sellers * Facebook Marketplace sellers * Vintage sellers * Sneaker resellers * Pokémon and card sellers * Collectors * Liquidation pallet buyers * Wholesale buyers * Thrift flippers * Part-time resellers * Full-time resellers Users could have: 10 items → 50 items → 100 items → 500+ items → 1,000+ items The application must not fall apart once someone has 100 listings. phase 1 budget $400 fixed total The complete Phase 1 budget is $400. I understand that a full reseller platform would cost much more. This is intentionally a focused MVP. I want a developer who knows how to prioritize the highest-value features and avoid wasting money on unnecessary complexity. The goal is: build → launch → validate → get paying users → continue building platform Phase 1 should be a mobile-first web app and PWA. Do not build native iOS or Android apps during Phase 1. The application must work properly on: * iPhone * Android * Desktop The mobile experience is the highest priority. Users should be able to add Stoq to their phone’s home screen and use it similarly to an app. Native App Store and Google Play apps can come later after validation. home dashboard When a reseller opens Stoq, they should immediately understand how their business is doing. today * Revenue * Sales * Profit * Items sold this week * Revenue * Sales * Profit * Items sold this month * Revenue * Sales * Profit * Items sold inventory * Total inventory items * Total inventory units * Inventory cost * Unsold inventory * Items sold * Money currently tied up in inventory quick actions Large mobile buttons: Add Inventory Add With Voice Record Sale The dashboard should feel useful immediately. inventory system Each inventory item should support: * Item name * Photo * Purchase cost * Quantity * Category * Source or store * Purchase date * Status * Notes * Sale information * Profit statuses * Purchased * In Stock * Listed * Sold * Archived Users must be able to: * Add * Edit * Delete * Search * Filter * Sort * Mark sold * View profit * Change status 100+ inventory items — required This is a hard requirement. Stoq must support at least 100+ inventory items per user during Phase 1. The application needs to remain fast and usable with 100+ items. I do not want a system that loads hundreds of huge photos at once and becomes slow. Use appropriate: * Pagination * Lazy loading * Efficient database queries * Image optimization * Caching where appropriate The database should be designed so we can eventually support 500–1,000+ inventory items per user without rebuilding the entire application. Before final delivery, the developer should test an account containing 100+ inventory items. bulk inventory Resellers frequently purchase inventory in large quantities. Example: 100 shirts for $500 Stoq should be able to record: Quantity: 100 Total cost: $500 Average cost: $5 per item Another example: 20 Pokémon boxes for $300 Stoq calculates: $15 average cost per box The reseller should not have to manually create 100 separate purchases simply to record the acquisition. bulk item entry The system should make it practical to add large amounts of inventory. I want users to be able to add: * 10 items * 50 items * 100+ items without the process becoming painful. The UI should allow quick repeated entry without unnecessary page reloads. If technically possible within the Phase 1 budget, build a simple bulk-entry workflow. csv import If the developer can fit a basic CSV import into the $400 scope, I would strongly prefer having it. This is especially important for resellers who already have hundreds of items. Example CSV fields: * Item name * Cost * Quantity * Category * Source * Purchase date * Status * Notes A reseller could upload a CSV containing 100+ inventory rows and Stoq would create the records. If a proper CSV importer cannot fit into the $400 budget, tell me before development starts. Do not quietly remove core features. fast inventory entry The entire inventory experience should be designed around speed. Target: 10–15 seconds to add a normal item. Example: Tap Add Inventory. Enter: Carhartt jacket $18 Clothing Goodwill Save. Done. The user should immediately be able to add another item. voice inventory entry Voice is one of the major differentiators of Stoq. There should be a microphone button on the Add Inventory screen. The user can speak naturally. example “Bought a Carhartt jacket for $18 at Goodwill.” Stoq extracts: Item: Carhartt jacket Cost: $18 Source: Goodwill Category: Clothing The fields automatically populate. The user reviews the information and taps Save. voice example 2 User says: “Bought three Pokémon boxes for $120.” Stoq understands: Quantity: 3 Item: Pokémon boxes Total cost: $120 Average cost: $40 Category: Collectibles voice example 3 User says: “I bought 12 vintage shirts for $180 from a liquidation sale.” Stoq understands: Quantity: 12 Item: Vintage shirts Total cost: $180 Average cost: $15 Source: Liquidation sale Category: Clothing voice workflow The workflow should be: Tap microphone ↓ Speak naturally ↓ Speech-to-text ↓ AI extracts structured information ↓ Fields automatically populate ↓ User reviews and edits ↓ Save The user must always be able to correct the information before saving. If the AI isn’t confident, it should not blindly invent information. Use existing AI and speech-to-text APIs. Do not build a custom AI model. smart AI extraction The AI should understand normal reseller language. For example: “Paid 25 bucks for these Jordans.” Should understand: Cost = $25 “Got five pairs for $200.” Should understand: Quantity = 5 Total cost = $200 Cost per pair = $40 “Picked this up at Goodwill for ten.” Should understand: Source = Goodwill Cost = $10 The user should not have to speak using a rigid command. photos Users should be able to add a photo from: * Camera * Photo library Photos are optional. Use optimized thumbnails so the inventory remains fast with 100+ items. Do not build AI image recognition during Phase 1. sales tracking When an item sells, the reseller should be able to quickly record: * Sale price * Marketplace or platform * Shipping cost * Selling fees * Other costs * Sale date The process should be fast. real profit calculation This is one of the most important features. Do not just show revenue. Stoq needs to show what the reseller actually made. Formula: Sale price minus inventory cost minus marketplace fees minus shipping minus other costs equals net profit Example: Purchase cost: $20 Sale price: $60 Fees: $9 Shipping: $8 Net profit: $23 The calculation needs to be accurate. expenses Include a simple business expense tracker. Users can add: * Expense name * Amount * Category * Date * Notes Example categories: * Shipping supplies * Packaging * Advertising * Storage * Software * Gas * Other This does not need to be full accounting software. business profitability The dashboard should distinguish between: Revenue What the reseller sold. Gross profit Revenue minus inventory cost. Expenses Business expenses. Net profit Gross profit minus business expenses. This is one of the reasons someone should pay for Stoq. inventory value Show users how much money is currently tied up in unsold inventory. Example: 247 items $3,420 invested This gives resellers an immediate understanding of their inventory position. item detail page When opening an item: Vintage Carhartt Jacket Purchase cost: $18 Status: Sold Sale price: $65 Fees: $8 Shipping: $10 Net profit: $29 Also show: * Photo * Category * Source * Purchase date * Sale date * Notes The financial numbers should be extremely easy to see. search and filtering This must work well with 100+ inventory items. Search by: * Item name Filter by: * Status * Category * Sold or unsold Sort by: * Newest * Oldest * Highest cost * Lowest cost * Highest profit * Lowest profit categories Include: * Clothing * Shoes * Electronics * Collectibles * Pokémon * Toys * Vintage * Home * Books * Comics * Other Allow Other. onboarding I am a first-time SaaS founder, and I want the onboarding experience to be simple for users too. A new user should not be dropped onto an empty dashboard without explanation. step 1 What do you sell? Choose categories. step 2 How much inventory do you have? Optional. step 3 Let’s add your first item. Give them: Add Manually or Add With Voice The first minute should demonstrate the value of Stoq. demo data Provide sample or demo data for testing and demonstrations. This should demonstrate: * Inventory * Sales * Revenue * Profit * Expenses * Dashboard csv export If possible within the Phase 1 budget, include basic CSV export. Export: * Item * Cost * Quantity * Category * Status * Sale price * Fees * Shipping * Profit Users should always be able to access their own data. subscription The planned Stoq price is approximately: $14.99 per month The application should be structured so Stripe can be added. If basic Stripe subscription functionality can comfortably fit into the $400 scope, include it. If it would compromise the core product, prioritize the product itself and add billing immediately after validation. mobile navigation Suggested navigation: Home | Inventory | Add | Sales | More The Add button should be prominent. The most important actions should be accessible within one or two taps. design Stoq should feel like a modern startup product. Brand direction: * Black * White * Clean typography * Minimal * Professional * Modern * Strong financial numbers * Simple cards * Large touch targets Avoid: * Generic admin dashboards * Clutter * Tiny buttons * Long forms * Excessive menus * Unnecessary animations It should feel simple enough for a beginner but powerful enough for a serious reseller. performance Performance is extremely important. The application should remain responsive with: 100+ inventory items The database should be designed to eventually support: 500–1,000+ items per user The developer should consider: * Pagination * Lazy loading * Efficient queries * Image optimization * Proper database indexes security Every user’s information must be isolated. User A must never see User B’s: * Inventory * Sales * Expenses * Profit * Account information Authentication and database permissions must be properly configured. cross-listing is intentionally not phase 1 Do not build: * eBay integration * Poshmark integration * Depop integration * Mercari integration * Facebook Marketplace integration * Automatic listing creation * Marketplace APIs We are intentionally waiting to validate Stoq first. Once we have real users and know which marketplaces they actually want, cross-listing can become a major Phase 2 feature. However, structure the database cleanly so future marketplace integrations are possible. not phase 1 Do not spend Phase 1 time building: * Native iOS app * Native Android app * Advanced accounting * Tax filing * AI image recognition * Automatic pricing * Product research * Automatic repricing * Advanced marketplace automation * Team accounts * Enterprise features I want a killer core product, not 100 unfinished features. the experience we’re trying to create Imagine a reseller comes home after sourcing inventory. They bought: 4 jackets 8 shirts 2 pairs of shoes Instead of opening Excel or Notes, they open Stoq. They tap the microphone and say: “Bought four jackets for $80, eight shirts for $64, and two pairs of shoes for $90.” Stoq turns that into structured inventory. They review it. Save. Later, one jacket sells for $75. They record the sale. Stoq shows: Purchase cost: $20 Sale price: $75 Fees: $10 Shipping: $8 Profit: $37 The dashboard updates. Now the reseller knows exactly what happened. That’s the experience I want. founder onboarding and technical guidance Because this is my first SaaS product, I need a developer who can help me understand what we’re doing. I want the developer to help me properly set up: * Hosting * Database * Domain * AI APIs * Voice APIs * Authentication * Deployment * Environment variables * API keys * GitHub and source code * Any other required services Important: All important business accounts should be under my ownership. I should have access to everything required to operate Stoq. Please do not create the entire application inside your personal accounts and leave me dependent on you. You can help me set everything up and explain what each service does. technical communication I am not highly technical. I need someone who can explain things in normal language. For example, if you recommend Supabase, explain: Why we need it What it costs What it does Why it is better than the alternatives If I suggest a feature that you believe we should not build yet, tell me. I would rather hear: “Don’t spend money on that yet. Here’s a better option.” than have someone blindly agree with everything. long-term developer relationship I am specifically looking for someone who can become the long-term developer for Stoq. I don’t want to hire a different developer every time something needs to be changed. If Phase 1 goes well, I want to continue with the same developer for: * Bug fixes * New features * User feedback * Performance improvements * Security updates * API changes * Future development phases * App Store development * Marketplace integrations If Stoq starts getting paying customers, development will increase significantly. The developer who helps successfully launch Phase 1 will have the opportunity to become the primary technical developer for Stoq. what i value Honesty over overpromising Communication over disappearing Good decisions over unnecessary features Long-term thinking over quick code User experience over technical complexity I want someone who wants to build Stoq with me, not someone who simply wants to finish a $400 contract. future development If Phase 1 validates the business: phase 2 — cross-listing Potential integrations: * eBay * Poshmark * Depop * Mercari * Facebook Marketplace phase 3 — advanced ai Potential features: * Product identification * Listing assistance * AI descriptions * Pricing suggestions * Smarter inventory management phase 4 — native apps * iOS * Android phase 5 — advanced reseller tools * Advanced analytics * Tax reporting * Business reporting * Advanced imports * Bulk tools * Automation technology I am open to your recommendation. Possible technologies: * React * Next.js * FlutterFlow * Bubble * Firebase * Supabase * PostgreSQL * Other appropriate technology Please recommend the best stack based on: Low development cost + mobile performance + speed + maintainability + future expansion voice and ai costs Please tell me: * Which speech-to-text API you recommend * Which AI API you recommend * Why * Cost per voice interaction * Estimated cost at 100 active users * Estimated cost at 500 active users * Estimated cost at 1,000 active users Keeping ongoing costs low is important. testing requirements Before delivery, test: account * Create account * Login * Logout * Password reset inventory * Add manually * Add with voice * Edit * Delete * Add photo * Search * Filter * Sort * Create 100+ items bulk inventory * Add bulk inventory * Verify quantity * Verify total cost * Verify average cost * Verify inventory totals sales * Record sale * Add fees * Add shipping * Calculate profit expenses * Add expense * Verify dashboard updates dashboard * Verify revenue * Verify gross profit * Verify expenses * Verify net profit * Verify inventory value security * Confirm one user cannot access another user’s information mobile Test the full application on mobile-sized screens. definition of done Phase 1 is complete when: * User registration works * Login works * User data is secure * Mobile-first web app works * Desktop version works * Inventory creation works * 100+ inventory items work * Bulk inventory works * Photos work * Voice inventory works * AI extraction works * Inventory editing works * Search works * Filtering works * Sorting works * Sales work * Fees work * Shipping works * Profit calculations work * Expenses work * Dashboard works * Inventory value works * Basic onboarding works * Application is deployed * Core flows have been tested The application must be usable by a real reseller. final delivery I need: * Fully working deployed application * Source code * Database * AI and voice integration * Authentication * Responsive UI * Deployment * Basic documentation * Third-party services list * API setup instructions * Ownership and access to the project The project cannot be locked inside the developer’s personal accounts. payment $400 total Suggested milestones: milestone 1 — $100 * Project setup * Database * Authentication * Base UI milestone 2 — $150 * Inventory * Bulk inventory * Photos * Voice and AI * Search and filtering milestone 3 — $150 * Sales * Profit * Expenses * Dashboard * 100+ item testing * Deployment * Bug fixes Milestones can be adjusted as long as the complete agreed Phase 1 remains within the $400 total. who i want I am looking for someone who has experience with: * SaaS * AI APIs * Speech-to-text * Databases * Mobile-first web applications * Authentication * API integrations * Modern UI and UX You should be: * Reliable * Honest * Good at communication * Comfortable explaining technical concepts * Able to work independently * Able to test your own work * Interested in a long-term relationship Most importantly: I want someone who cares about making Stoq a great product. application requirements Start your proposal with: “STOQ” Then answer ALL of these: 1. What technology stack would you use? 2. Why would you choose it? 3. How would you build voice to AI to structured inventory? 4. Which AI and speech APIs would you use? 5. Have you built a voice-enabled application? 6. Show 2–3 actual projects you personally built. 7. How long will Phase 1 take? 8. Can you complete the defined Phase 1 for exactly $400? 9. How would you make 100+ inventory items perform well? 10. How would you handle bulk inventory? 11. What is the biggest technical risk? 12. What are the expected monthly API costs? 13. What would you change or improve about this MVP? 14. Are you interested in becoming the long-term developer for Stoq? 15. Are you comfortable working with a non-technical first-time SaaS founder?
