Aerospace / eVTOL Engineer Needed — VTOL Aircraft Design & Flight Simulation Project Overview I am looking for an experienced aerospace/eVTOL engineer to help develop and validate a VTOL aircraft concept through engineering analysis and virtual flight simulation. The project will start with a preliminary concept and develop it into an engineering-based virtual aircraft. What We Need The engineer will be responsible for: * Reviewing the existing VTOL concept * Developing the preliminary aircraft configuration * Determining appropriate aircraft dimensions and specifications * Estimating aircraft weight and weight distribution * Selecting/sizing motors and propellers/rotors * Estimating power and energy requirements * Performing preliminary aerodynamic analysis * Calculating thrust, lift, drag and aircraft performance * Estimating range, speed, climb and hover performance * Developing the aircraft’s flight-dynamics model * Creating a physics-based virtual flight simulation * Integrating the aircraft into a suitable simulation environment * Testing: * Vertical takeoff * Hover * Climb * Transition to forward flight * Forward flight * Turns * Transition back to VTOL * Landing 3D / Virtual Model We need the virtual aircraft to represent the proposed design and its major components, including where applicable: * Motors * Propellers/rotors * Wings * Fuselage * Battery * Landing gear * Payload * Control systems The simulation should use engineering parameters rather than being only a visual animation. Expected Deliverables 1. Preliminary aircraft design 2. Engineering calculations and assumptions 3. Weight and balance estimate 4. Propulsion and power analysis 5. Aerodynamic/performance analysis 6. 3D CAD model 7. Flight-dynamics/physics model 8. Virtual flight simulation 9. Simulation results 10. Technical report identifying limitations, risks and areas requiring physical testing Required Experience Please apply if you have proven experience in: * Aerospace engineering * VTOL/eVTOL aircraft * Aircraft conceptual design * Aerodynamics * Aircraft performance * Electric propulsion * Motor/propeller/rotor sizing * Flight dynamics * Stability and control * CAD * Flight simulation Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, CFD, PX4, ArduPilot, AirSim, Unreal Engine, Gazebo or similar tools is a plus. Important This is not a simple 3D modelling or animation project. The objective is to create an engineering-based virtual aircraft and simulation that can be progressively refined and eventually compared with physical test results.
