AI Developer to Build a Conversational Bargaining Chatbot for Shopify D2C Stores

We are Strategy Fox, an AI and growth agency working with D2C and ecommerce brands. We are looking for an experienced AI developer to build a conversational bargaining engine that lets shoppers negotiate product prices directly on a brand's Shopify storefront, similar to haggling with a shopkeeper. What you will build: A chat widget embedded on product pages where a customer can make an offer on a product. The AI agent responds in a natural, persuasive tone, counters offers based on preset discount floors and margin rules set by the merchant, and closes the deal by generating a unique discount code the customer can apply at checkout. Key responsibilities: Design the negotiation logic, including offer evaluation, counter offer strategy, walk away thresholds, and deal acceptance rules configurable per product or collection. Build the LLM powered conversation layer with guardrails so the agent stays on topic, never exceeds the discount floor, and maintains brand voice. Integrate with Shopify, including product and pricing data, dynamic discount code generation via the Admin API, and widget injection on the storefront theme. Set up session handling so each negotiation is tracked, rate limited, and protected against abuse such as repeated attempts to reset the conversation. Provide a simple merchant dashboard or config file to control discount ranges, tone, and which products are eligible for bargaining. Required skills: Python or Node.js, LLM APIs (Claude or OpenAI), prompt engineering with guardrails, Shopify Admin API and Liquid, webhook and session management, and basic frontend work for the chat widget. Nice to have: experience with n8n or similar automation tools, vector databases, and prior work on ecommerce conversion features. Deliverables: working chatbot deployed on a staging Shopify store, documentation, and a handover session.
