WordPress Theme Modernization & Credit Card Security

The website currently uses the heavily customized Book Your Travel theme version 5.01. The objective is to upgrade to the current compatible version, move existing customizations into a child theme or appropriate custom plugins, and improve the security of customer credit card information. Phase 1 – Credit Card Security Investigate and remediate the insecure storage of credit card information in the WordPress database. Establish a safer method for collecting and accessing credit card information needed to guarantee hotel reservations. Address historical card records and stored copies, including backups, through an agreed security remediation plan. Preserve the existing customer registration and reservation workflow. Document the changes and any remaining security or PCI compliance considerations. Phase 2 – Theme Modernization Upgrade Book Your Travel from version 5.01 to the latest compatible version. Rebuild and relocate Per Diem Lodging customizations into a child theme or appropriate custom plugins. Preserve existing hotels, rooms, availability, reservations, customer accounts, and booking history. Preserve customized hotel pages, rates, customer registration, booking requests, confirmation emails, administration features, and website appearance. Implement the agreed improvement to rate management so rates do not need to be entered in multiple locations. Thoroughly test the updated website in staging before deployment. Perform a controlled live deployment with backups, a rollback plan, and post-launch monitoring. Project Requirements All existing business-critical functionality must remain operational. No changes should be made to the live reservation system without appropriate testing and approval. The credit card security work is the immediate priority.
