About the Project
We are HEXASPACE, an interior design and furniture company based in Ahmedabad, India.
We are currently developing our furniture e-commerce website on WordPress/WooCommerce. The website is already substantially developed and includes:
• Homepage
• Living Room category
• Dining Room category
• Bedroom category
• Office furniture
• Outdoor furniture
• Modular furniture
• Home Decor
• Kids & Teens
• Product archive/category pages
• Product listings
• Filters
• Wishlist
• Cart
• Search
• Customer account
• Showroom information
• Interior design/service integration
We are NOT looking to build a new website from scratch.
We need an experienced WordPress/WooCommerce developer with strong e-commerce UX/UI understanding to review the existing development, improve the overall shopping experience, fix catalogue/product presentation issues, implement missing features, optimise responsiveness/performance, and prepare the website for public launch.
The website should ultimately feel like a premium furniture and interior-design brand, rather than a generic WooCommerce catalogue.
________________________________________
Main Objective
Our current website has a strong basic structure, but we need to improve four major areas:
1. Product Catalogue Experience
2. E-Commerce UX & Conversion
3. Visual Consistency
4. Technical & Pre-Launch Optimisation
The developer should be comfortable working with a large furniture catalogue containing thousands of products.
________________________________________
1. Product Archive / Category Page Improvements
Our existing category pages currently contain:
• Left-side filters
• Product grid
• Product image
• Long product titles
• Product price
• Sorting
• Pagination
We want these pages significantly refined.
Required improvements
Create a cleaner, premium product-card design containing:
• Consistent product image ratio
• Product name
• Short product specification
• Price
• Sale/original price when applicable
• Discount percentage
• Wishlist
• Quick View / View Product
• Product badges
• Responsive hover interaction
Possible product badges:
• Bestseller
• New
• Designer Pick
• Made to Order
• Ready to Ship
• Customisable
• Sale
Product-card height and spacing should remain visually consistent even if products have different information.
________________________________________
2. Product Naming & Catalogue Structure
Many existing product titles are currently extremely long because they were written in an SEO/marketplace style.
For example, instead of displaying:
Wooden Twist Luxury Round White Marble Dining Table with White Metal X-Base Modern 4 Seater Premium Dining Table for Contemporary Homes 120CM
The catalogue should visually display something like:
Vortenza Marble Dining Table
4 Seater · 120 cm · White Marble
The complete SEO description can remain in the product content/meta data.
We need assistance establishing a scalable structure for:
• Product names
• Short descriptions
• Product attributes
• Categories
• Subcategories
• Tags
• Collections
• Variations
________________________________________
3. Consolidate Duplicate Product Variants
Currently, some products appear multiple times because different:
• Sizes
• Colours
• Dimensions
• Finishes
may exist as separate listings.
Where appropriate, these should become WooCommerce variable products.
Example:
Abberton Upholstered Bed
Colour:
Grey / Beige / Teal
Size:
Single / Queen / King
Rather than showing six or nine almost identical listings on the category page.
The developer must understand WooCommerce variable products and product attributes at scale.
________________________________________
4. Advanced Furniture Filters
Our current filters are too basic.
We need category-specific filtering.
BEDROOM / BEDS
Filters could include:
• Single
• Queen
• King
• Upholstered
• Wooden
• Engineered wood
• With storage
• Without storage
• Hydraulic storage
• Grey
• Beige
• Brown
• Blue
• Modern
• Minimal
• Luxury
DINING TABLES
Filters:
• 4 Seater
• 6 Seater
• 8 Seater
• 10 Seater
• Round
• Rectangle
• Oval
• Marble
• Wood
• Glass
• Stone
• Metal
• Colour
• Price
• Style
OFFICE
Filters:
• Individual desk
• 2-person workstation
• 4-person workstation
• 6-person workstation
• Manager desk
• Storage
• Pedestal
• Conference table
• Dimensions
• Material
• Finish
• Price
Filters should be:
• AJAX-based where practical
• Fast
• Mobile-friendly
• Easy to use
• SEO-conscious
________________________________________
5. Search & Autocomplete
The website contains thousands of products, so search is very important.
We want an intelligent search experience.
Example:
When someone types:
Marble din...
the search dropdown could display:
Categories
Marble Dining Tables
Suggestions
Round Marble Dining Tables
6-Seater Marble Dining Tables
Products
Relevant product images + names + prices
Search should support:
• Product title
• SKU
• Category
• Product attributes
• Collections
• Relevant keywords
The developer may recommend a suitable WooCommerce search solution/plugin if necessary.
________________________________________
6. Sorting
Improve sorting options to include:
• Recommended
• Best Selling
• Newest
• Price: Low to High
• Price: High to Low
• Highest Rated
• Largest Discount
The default should ideally prioritise curated/recommended or best-selling products rather than simply database order.
________________________________________
7. Single Product Page – Major Improvement
The individual product page must provide everything a customer needs before purchasing furniture.
We require sections for:
Product Gallery
• Main product image
• Lifestyle image
• Alternate angles
• Material close-up
• Dimension image/drawing
• Colour variants
Product Information
• Product title
• Price
• Sale price
• GST information
• SKU
• Availability
• Made-to-order status
• Short description
Variations
• Size
• Colour
• Finish
• Material
• Upholstery
Visual swatches should be used wherever appropriate.
________________________________________
8. Furniture Specifications
Products should have structured specifications rather than only paragraph descriptions.
Example:
Dimensions: 1800 × 900 × 750 mm
Material: Engineered Wood
Top: Italian Marble
Frame: Powder-Coated Metal
Finish: Walnut
Seating Capacity: 6
Assembly: Required
Warranty: 3 Years
The structure must be easy for our team to maintain from WordPress.
________________________________________
9. PIN-Code Delivery Checker
Customers should be able to enter their PIN code on the product page.
Example:
Enter Delivery PIN Code
380015
Then display information such as:
✓ Delivery Available
Estimated Delivery: 18–24 Days
Installation: Included
Shipping: Free
Actual rules will be supplied/configured based on our shipping system.
________________________________________
10. Product Purchase Information
Clear information needs to be available regarding:
• Delivery
• Installation
• Warranty
• Returns
• Cancellation
• Care instructions
• Assembly
• Shipping
• Made-to-order products
Important information should be visible close to the Add to Cart section.
________________________________________
11. Wishlist
Wishlist currently exists but should be refined.
We eventually want users to be able to create a furniture/design wishlist containing multiple products.
Possible functionality:
My Wishlist / My Design Wishlist
Users should be able to:
• Save products
• Remove products
• Share wishlist
• Return later
• Potentially submit wishlist to HEXASPACE for design consultation
________________________________________
12. Product Comparison
We would like users to compare approximately 2–4 products.
Comparison parameters might include:
• Price
• Dimensions
• Material
• Colour
• Finish
• Warranty
• Delivery
• Seating capacity
• Storage
• Customisation
Particularly useful for:
• Beds
• Dining tables
• Office workstations
• Sofas
• Storage furniture
________________________________________
13. Recently Viewed Products
Implement recently viewed products so users can easily return to products they previously explored.
________________________________________
14. Related Products / Cross Selling
Improve related product logic.
Sections may include:
You May Also Like
Similar Products
Complete the Look
Customers Also Viewed
Recommendations should preferably use relevant:
• Category
• Material
• Style
• Collection
• Price range
rather than random products.
________________________________________
15. Shop the Room
This is an important future-facing feature for us.
We have interior/lifestyle photographs throughout the website.
We would like the ability to make lifestyle images shoppable.
Example:
A living-room photograph could contain hotspots for:
• Sofa
• Coffee table
• Side table
• Rug
• Lamp
Clicking the hotspot should reveal the related product.
CTA:
SHOP THIS ROOM
Please mention if you have implemented similar functionality before.
________________________________________
16. Custom Furniture Enquiry
HEXASPACE is not only an online furniture marketplace. We are also an interior design and execution company.
We want to leverage this advantage.
Some products should contain a CTA:
CUSTOMISE THIS PRODUCT
Customer can request:
• Different dimensions
• Different colour
• Different material
• Different laminate
• Different veneer
• Different fabric
• Other modification
The request could open a form containing the current product details automatically.
________________________________________
17. Interior Design Consultation Integration
Selected areas of the website should encourage users to:
BOOK A DESIGN CONSULTATION
The shopping website and our interior design business should feel connected.
Potential placements:
• Homepage
• Product pages
• Cart
• Wishlist
• Shop the Room
• Footer
• Large furniture category pages
This must be implemented without making the shopping journey intrusive.
________________________________________
18. WhatsApp Product Enquiry
We want a clean WhatsApp enquiry option.
When clicked from a product page, the pre-filled message should contain something like:
Hi HEXASPACE, I'm interested in the Vortenza Marble Dining Table – SKU XXXXX.
Including a product URL automatically would be preferable.
________________________________________
19. Homepage Improvements
Our homepage already contains:
• Hero banner
• Categories
• Living Room Collection
• Dining Room Collection
• Featured brands
• Sale banner
• Shop by room
• Showroom
• Brand/service benefits
• Stories
• Instagram
• Location/map
• Footer
We want to refine the homepage rather than replace the entire design.
Additional merchandising sections may include:
Best Sellers
New Arrivals
Trending Furniture
Designer Picks
Shop by Budget
Premium Collection
Complete the Look
Recently Viewed
The homepage should balance premium brand storytelling with actual e-commerce conversion.
________________________________________
20. Shop by Style / Collection
We want better furniture discovery.
Potential collections:
• Modern
• Minimal
• Contemporary
• Scandinavian
• Japandi
• Luxury
• Industrial
Potential price collections:
• Under ₹25,000
• ₹25,000–₹50,000
• ₹50,000–₹1,00,000
• ₹1,00,000+
Potential room/project collections:
• Furniture for 2BHK
• Furniture for 3BHK
• Villa Furniture
• Home Office
• Corporate Office
Backend architecture should allow our team to manage these easily.
________________________________________
21. Reviews & Ratings
Implement/refine WooCommerce reviews with:
• Star rating
• Verified purchase
• Written review
• Customer images where practical
• Review count
• Average rating
Reviews should appear on product cards where appropriate and prominently on the product page.
________________________________________
22. Trust & Conversion Elements
Furniture is a high-ticket purchase.
Important trust indicators should be shown appropriately:
• Secure Payments
• Warranty
• Quality Checked
• Installation Available
• Delivery Information
• Showroom Available
• Design Assistance
• Customisation Available
These should be elegant and consistent with our brand, not overly promotional.
________________________________________
23. Mobile UX
A significant part of our traffic will be mobile.
The complete website must be properly responsive.
Particular attention required for:
• Header
• Mega menu
• Search
• Filters
• Product grids
• Product gallery
• Product swatches
• Cart
• Checkout
• Wishlist
• Product comparison
• Forms
• Footer
On mobile, product filters should ideally open in a drawer/modal.
For product pages, we may use a sticky purchase bar such as:
₹84,900 | ADD TO CART
________________________________________
24. Checkout Optimisation
Review and improve WooCommerce checkout.
We want it:
• Simple
• Fast
• Mobile-friendly
• Trustworthy
• Minimal unnecessary fields
Also review:
• Guest checkout
• Login
• Coupon behaviour
• Shipping calculation
• Payment gateway flow
• Order confirmation
• Email notifications
________________________________________
25. Cart / Abandoned Cart
Review cart UX and implement an appropriate abandoned-cart solution.
Potential recovery channels may include:
• Email
• WhatsApp, if technically and legally appropriate for our setup
Developer should recommend a scalable implementation rather than installing unnecessary plugins.
________________________________________
26. Order Tracking
Customers should be able to easily:
• View orders
• See order status
• Access order details
Where practical, provide a clear Track Order experience.
________________________________________
27. Performance Optimisation
Performance is extremely important because the site will contain thousands of products and many high-quality furniture images.
Developer should review:
• Core Web Vitals
• Image compression
• WebP/AVIF
• Lazy loading
• Database optimisation
• WooCommerce queries
• AJAX filtering performance
• Caching
• CDN
• CSS/JS loading
• Plugin overhead
• Elementor performance
• Mobile loading time
Do not sacrifice image quality unnecessarily.
________________________________________
28. SEO Technical Structure
We are not asking for full SEO/content marketing, but the development should follow proper technical SEO practices.
Check:
• Heading structure
• Product schema
• Breadcrumb schema
• Product URLs
• Category URLs
• Canonical URLs
• Variable product indexing
• Duplicate products
• Image alt tags
• Meta templates
• Pagination
• Filter/faceted navigation indexing
• Sitemap
• Robots rules
• Internal links
Experience with large WooCommerce catalogue SEO is a major advantage.
________________________________________
29. Product Image Standardisation
One of our biggest current visual problems is inconsistent product imagery.
Our product catalogue currently contains combinations of:
• Lifestyle renders
• White-background photos
• Technical drawings
• Different image ratios
• Different crop levels
• Different background colours
We need a consistent display system.
The developer/designer should configure the front end so product cards maintain a uniform presentation even when source images vary.
We will separately work on improving source product imagery.
________________________________________
30. Brand Design Direction
The existing HEXASPACE branding must be maintained.
Brand language
Background: Architectural White
Primary Text: Black / Charcoal
Accent: HEXASPACE Red
We do not want dark ecommerce pages.
The desired visual direction is:
• Premium
• Architectural
• Minimal
• Contemporary
• Clean
• Spacious
• Professional
Avoid:
• Generic marketplace appearance
• Excessive gradients
• Heavy shadows
• Cheap promotional banners
• Overuse of red
• Excessive animations
• Cluttered layouts
Red should primarily be used for:
• CTAs
• Highlights
• Important states
• Branding
________________________________________
31. Existing Technology
Current website is based on:
• WordPress
• WooCommerce
• Elementor / Elementor-based development
• Existing hosting/environment
The selected developer will receive access after hiring.
You should be comfortable modifying an existing live/staging WordPress environment rather than insisting on rebuilding everything using your preferred theme.
________________________________________
32. Development Requirements
Before modifying the website:
• Full backup must be taken.
• Work should preferably be performed on a staging environment.
• Existing working functionality should not be broken.
• Custom code should follow WordPress standards.
• Avoid excessive dependency on plugins.
• Avoid nulled/cracked plugins or themes.
• All premium plugin licences must be disclosed before implementation.
• Changes must remain maintainable by our internal team.

Important: What We DON'T Want
Please do not apply if your solution is simply:
“I will install a new WooCommerce theme.”
We already have an established website and brand direction.
We need somebody who can analyse the existing system, retain what works, improve what doesn't, implement missing ecommerce functionality and prepare it professionally for launch.
We also do not want dozens of unnecessary plugins installed to solve simple problems.
When Applying, Please Answer These Questions
Please include the following in your proposal:
1. Share 3 WooCommerce websites you personally developed or significantly improved.
2. Have you worked with WooCommerce stores containing 5,000+ products?
3. How would you approach improving performance on a large WooCommerce + Elementor website?
4. Which solution would you recommend for AJAX filtering and why?
5. Which solution would you recommend for WooCommerce search/autocomplete and why?
6. How would you handle multiple colours/sizes of the same furniture item without filling category pages with duplicate products?
7. Have you developed product comparison, wishlist, PIN-code checking or “Shop the Look/Room” functionality before? Please provide examples.
8. Would you work on staging before deploying changes to production?
9. Are you comfortable working with our existing design rather than rebuilding the website?
10. Please start your proposal with the word HEXASPACE so we know you have read the complete brief.
