Next.js Developer Needed to Improve Internal Whiteboard Tool – Collaboration, Snapping & Bug Fixes

I'm looking for an experienced Next.js developer to contribute to an existing internal whiteboard/collaboration tool. The project is already underway, and we need someone who can understand the existing codebase, implement improvements, fix bugs, and polish the overall whiteboard experience. The main focus will be on making the whiteboard feel smooth, intuitive, and reliable, particularly around snapping and real-time collaboration. Main Tasks 1. Improve the Whiteboard / Board Snapping Implement or improve snapping behavior for objects/elements on the board. Make positioning and alignment feel smooth and intuitive. Objects should snap properly to grids, guides, or other relevant elements where applicable. Avoid awkward or buggy movement while dragging/resizing. Make the overall board interaction feel polished and responsive. 2. Add / Improve Collaborative Mode Implement the collaborative experience so multiple users can work on the same board. Ensure changes are properly synchronized between users. Handle simultaneous editing/movement of elements as smoothly as possible. Show relevant collaborator presence/state where required. Pay attention to synchronization issues and race conditions. 3. Bug Fixes & Existing Issues Go through the existing whiteboard and identify/fix existing bugs. Fix UI/UX issues related to dragging, selecting, resizing, positioning, etc. Improve stability and prevent regressions. Test the existing functionality after making changes. 4. General Improvements Improve performance and responsiveness where needed. Keep the implementation clean and maintainable. Follow the existing project's architecture and coding style. Avoid unnecessary rewrites unless there is a strong technical reason. Requirements Strong experience with Next.js / React / TypeScript Good understanding of interactive UI applications Experience working with whiteboards, canvas-based applications, editors, or similar tools is a big plus. Experience with real-time/collaborative applications is preferred. Ability to understand an existing codebase quickly and contribute without breaking existing functionality. Good debugging and problem-solving skills. Timeline & Budget Timeline: Approximately 2–3 weeks Budget: $70–$100 total, depending on experience and the scope of work. Before starting, I'll provide access to the existing project/codebase so you can review the current implementation and understand the exact tasks.
