Technical Client Partner — Part-Time Contract

About the Role We are looking for an experienced US-based technical professional to support client communication, technical discovery, and project coordination for software development engagements. This is a part-time consulting role for someone who is comfortable speaking with business and technical stakeholders, understanding software requirements, and communicating technical concepts clearly. You will work alongside an experienced software development team and help ensure that client requirements are understood clearly and communicated effectively throughout an engagement. What You'll Do • Participate in client discovery calls and technical meetings. • Understand client goals, business requirements, and technical needs. • Discuss web, mobile, API, cloud, and software architecture concepts with clients. • Ask appropriate technical and business questions during discovery. • Help translate client requirements into clear technical information for the development team. • Communicate project updates, questions, and technical considerations clearly. • Help maintain a professional and productive client relationship. • Coordinate with software engineers and other technical team members as needed. • Provide general technical guidance during client discussions. What You Will Not Be Expected to Do This is primarily a client communication and technical consulting role. You will not be expected to personally perform all software development work for the projects. Development work may be performed by other members of the project team according to the agreed project scope. Schedule • Approximately 4–8 hours per week. • Flexible scheduling. • Most work will consist of scheduled client meetings, technical discussions, and related preparation or follow-up. • This role is intended to work well as a part-time consulting engagement. Compensation • $100–$250/hour • Final rate will depend on experience, technical background, communication skills, and expected responsibilities. • Hours will be agreed upon in advance and handled through the Upwork contract. Requirements • Currently located in the United States. • Excellent spoken and written English. • Strong software technology background. • Comfortable discussing technical subjects with non-technical and technical clients. • Working knowledge of areas such as: o Web application development o Mobile applications o APIs and integrations o Cloud services o Software architecture o Databases and common development technologies • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Professional experience working with clients, stakeholders, or software teams. Nice to Have • Experience as a software consultant, solutions consultant, technical account manager, software architect, engineering lead, or similar role. • Experience conducting technical discovery or requirements-gathering sessions. • Experience working with distributed software development teams. • Previous freelance or consulting experience.
