### WordPress / Bluehost Expert Needed – Intermittent WP-Admin 507, Too Many Requests & High PHP Process Count
Hi, we are looking for an experienced WordPress/server specialist to diagnose and permanently resolve an intermittent issue with our .com website.
Please see the attached screenshots showing the errors and current Bluehost hosting resource usage.
The public-facing .com website is working perfectly fine. The main issue is with the WordPress `/wp-admin/`.
Sometimes `/wp-admin/` works normally, sometimes it loads extremely slowly, and at other times it becomes completely inaccessible.
The errors/issues we have encountered include:
* 507 Insufficient Storage
* Service Unavailable / Too Many Requests
* Extremely slow WordPress admin
* Intermittent access to `/wp-admin/`
* High PHP/process count reported by Bluehost
As shown in the attached screenshot, Bluehost cPanel shows approximately **149 GB / 250 GB disk usage (around 60%)**, so there appears to be sufficient disk storage. However, file usage is high at approximately **3 million files**.
### Latest feedback from Bluehost
Bluehost investigated and advised us that the website has a **high process count**.
They cleared the currently running processes to reduce the server load. However, they informed us that **the processes are regenerating again after being cleared**.
According to Bluehost, most of the processes are coming from a path similar to:
`lsphp:me1/ioaznymy/public_html/[website-folder]/index.php`
We have replaced the actual website/folder name above for privacy.
Bluehost explained that:
* `lsphp` is the LiteSpeed PHP handler running PHP scripts.
* `index.php` is the PHP file being executed within the WordPress website.
* Their shared hosting environment limits the number of concurrent PHP processes per user, reportedly usually around **20 processes**.
* The website should be optimized and unnecessary files/plugins should be removed.
Bluehost also recommended:
* Optimizing the WordPress installation
* Removing unnecessary files and plugins
* Repairing and optimizing MySQL database tables
* Running Google PageSpeed Insights
* Investigating what is generating the unusually high number of PHP processes
Previously, Bluehost also suggested that certain WordPress plugins could be responsible.
They also asked us to temporarily disable some Cloudflare proxy settings for testing. We did this, but **the problem still persisted**. From the Cloudflare side, there does not appear to be any obvious issue.
### What we need you to investigate
We are looking for someone who can identify the **actual root cause and permanently resolve it**, rather than simply clearing the processes. Bluehost has already cleared them, but they regenerate again.
Specifically, we need you to investigate:
1. **What is generating the unusually high number of PHP processes through `index.php`?**
2. Whether a specific plugin, theme, WP-Cron task, AJAX/API request, bot traffic, database query, backup process, cache process, malware, or another WordPress function is responsible.
3. Why the processes regenerate shortly after Bluehost clears them.
4. Whether we are hitting Bluehost's concurrent PHP process limit and whether this is causing the **507 / Too Many Requests / Service Unavailable** errors.
5. Why we are receiving **507 Insufficient Storage** when disk usage is only around 60%.
6. Whether the approximately **3 million files/inodes** could be contributing to the issue.
7. Whether there are excessive cache files, logs, backups, temporary files, session files, or other unnecessary files that can be safely cleaned up.
8. Whether the WordPress/MySQL database requires optimization or repair.
9. Why `/wp-admin/` sometimes works perfectly normally but at other times becomes extremely slow or completely inaccessible.
10. Whether there are excessive external requests or bot traffic causing PHP processes to spike.
11. Whether the issue can be resolved through proper WordPress/server optimization or if we are simply reaching the resource limitations of the current Bluehost shared hosting plan.
12. Whether upgrading the hosting plan or migrating to another hosting/server environment is actually necessary.
We **do not want someone to simply disable random plugins or clear the processes and consider the issue resolved**. We would prefer someone who can examine the logs, PHP processes, database, traffic, cron jobs and server/resource usage to identify exactly what is causing the excessive PHP processes.
The objective is to determine whether this is:
**WordPress/plugin issue → database issue → abnormal traffic/bots → excessive files/processes → or a Bluehost shared-hosting limitation.**
Please review the attached screenshots and Bluehost's findings and let us know:
* Have you handled similar WordPress/LiteSpeed PHP process issues before?
* Do you know how to trace what is actually triggering these `index.php` processes?
* Are you confident you can diagnose the root cause and implement a permanent solution?
We can provide the necessary WordPress, Bluehost/cPanel and Cloudflare access once we proceed.
Thanks.
